Country star Luke Combs has pulled out of his scheduled Super Bowl performance just one day before he was set to take the stage due to a personal family matter.
“So sorry to miss y’all at Madden Bowl, but family always comes first. Have a great time,” Combs shared via Instagram on Thursday, February 5.
Luke Combs Cancels Super Bowl Performance
The “Beautiful Crazy” artist was scheduled to perform during the Madden Bowl on Friday, February 6, in San Francisco.
EA Sports, the company behind the highly anticipated event, announced the lineup change via Instagram on Thursday.
“Update: Luke has to hold it down at home with a new one on the way,” they shared. “All love for Luke and his family — and we can’t wait to put on an unforgettable #MaddenBowl with @zachlanebryan leading an incredible night of music and football for the fans.”
While Combs will no longer be heading to San Francisco, Zach Bryan, Teddy Swims, Stephen Wilson Jr., Gavin Adcock and LaRussell are still scheduled to perform.
Combs was first announced as a performer for the event in January.
“[Carolina] Panthers football has been a staple in my life since I was a kid, so playing Madden has been something I’ve always done — still do to this day on tour,” he said in a statement at the time. “Getting the invite from EA Sports to be a part of the Madden Bowl at the biggest football game in the world — the Super Bowl, was a no-brainer. I can’t wait and I’m still holding out hope my Panthers will be there too.”
Super Bowl LX will see the New England Patriots take on the Seattle Seahawks in a rematch of the 2015 Super Bowl on Sunday, February 8.
Luke Combs Is Expecting Baby No. 3
While it’s unclear exactly why Combs was forced to back out of the upcoming show, he and wife Nicole Combs are expecting their third child together.
“Third time’s a charm! ✨Baby #3 coming this winter 🤍” they announced in September.
The couple did not announce their exact due date, just noted baby No. 3 was coming “this winter.”
However, Nicole shared a bump update to Instagram on January 6 with the caption, “Soon to be, mom of 3 ✨”
Luke and Nicole are already parents to sons Tex Lawrence, who was born in June 2022, and Beau Lee, whom they welcomed in August 2023.
