Country superstar Tim McGraw is honoring those who’ve lost their lives this Memorial Day with a brand new song.
The “Don’t Take the Girl” artist dropped his new song without an announcement.
Tim McGraw Drops New Song
McGraw took to social media on Monday, May 25, to share a post in honor of Memorial Day.
“Never forget the ones who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Unselfishly stepping into the brink for our collective futures,” he captioned the tribute.
His video showed a scene from what appeared to be Arlington National Cemetery with each gravesite adorned with a small American flag.
“Tears rain in Arlington for soldiers young and brave, white crosses on a field of green while Old Glory waves,” he sings. “This is a song for America. 9/11 scars, and freedom of speech. This is a song for America.”
The comments section of his post was flooded with emotions as followers shared their Memorial Day tributes.
“Sacrifice, Honor and Respect. Today, we remember and honor those that sacrificed so much. Tonight, I will set my table with an extra chair and table setting for those that paid the ultimate price so that I may live in freedom in the greatest country in the world, The United States of America!” one fan wrote.
“God Bless those men that gave it all for freedom!” another commented.

Tim McGraw Honors Lost Loved Ones
While it’s unclear whether the country legend will release the full song, possibly titled “Song for America,” he recently shared a heartfelt tribute to loved ones who have passed.
“Honoring a few of my family members who’ve served, and all those who’ve dedicated their lives to protecting our freedom. Your courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten,” he shared in November 2025, in honor of Veteran’s Day.
His tribute was set to his 2002 hit, “Comfort Me.”
“Lay me in soft green grass / Down where the river runs / Under the mountain caps / Gold with the setting sun,” he sang.
The “Live Like You Were Dying” artist recently opened up about almost walking away from country music due to his health.
“I’ve had four back surgeries and double knee replacements, just in the last couple of years,” he told the crowd during an October 2025 show. “After going through all of that for a couple of years and getting depressed over it and all those things, stuff not working right, this spring, before I had my final back surgery, things were getting really bad.”
McGraw went on to say that he “seriously” contemplated “how to walk away.”
“But it’s gotten better,” he concluded.
