5 ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Contestants Eliminated Too Soon

One of the most emotional parts of watching “Dancing With the Stars” isn’t just the glittery costumes or jaw-dropping choreography. The real emotions come out when watching a contestant with real potential get voted out of the ballroom earlier than expected.

Whether it was due to fan voting or an unlucky pairing, there are definitely seasons where standout performers got eliminated before they truly got a chance to shine. We have a list of five contestants who delivered memorable performances that left fans wondering: “Why did they go home so soon?”

1. Heather Morris (Season 24)

Glee” star Heather Morris joined the “Dancing With the Stars” cast during season 24. She came into the competition with a professional dance background and immediately proved she was one of the biggest competitors of the season.

She was partnered with Maksim Chmerkovskiy, which seemed like a perfect fit for her. Their routines were polished, filled with a ton of energy. The couple consistently got good scores from the judges.

Despite all of that, Heather and Maks were surprisingly sent home early, with the couple finishing in eighth place. Many “DWTS” fans still argue Heather should have been a finalist, if not the winner, of the season.

2. Jordin Sparks (Season 31)

Jordin Sparks, the season 6 winner of “American Idol,” brought warmth, vocal star power, and steady improvement to Season 31 of “Dancing With the Stars.” She was partnered with Brandon Armstrong.

Week after week, she showed growth. She was blending musicality with confidence on that dance floor. However, the couple was eliminated during week 7, finishing in ninth place. This shocked many fans, especially since there were weaker dancers remaining in the competition.

3. Kristin Cavallari (Season 13)

Kristin Cavallari arrived on “DWTS” with reality TV fame and something to prove, and she delivered. Cavallari was paired with Mark Ballas.

Kristin quickly exceeded expectations. She was showing strong technique and had a natural stage presence.

While she had the fame going for her and a fan base, it didn’t help with the votes. The couple was eliminated during week 3, which shocked many fans. They felt she was just starting to improve and deserved a deeper run.

4. Trista Sutter (Season 1)

We are going all the way back to season 1 for this one, but many fans thought Trista Sutter would make it far in the competition. Instead, she was the first person eliminated.

Sutter was partnered with Louis van Amstel during the first season of this reality dance competition. She also happened to be the first “Bachelorette,” so you’d figure that popularity might mean some votes

However, she was the first person voted out that season. Many fans thought her journey ended before she was given the chance to shine fully.

5. Tinashe (Season 27)

Tinashe’s elimination in season 27 remains one of the most controversial in “DWTS” history. With a professional-level performance ability, sharp technique, and standout routines, she was widely expected to make the finale.

However, Tinashe and her partner, Brandon Armstrong, were eliminated during week 4, finishing in 10th place. This early exit shocked viewers. This elimination continues to be cited as a prime example of how voting can outweigh talent.

Many “DWTS” eliminations are unpredictable, which is part of the show’s charm. Who do you think was eliminated too soon on “Dancing With the Stars?”
