“Dancing With the Stars” judge and six-time winner Derek Hough shared a new video featuring his and Hayley Erbert‘s new baby daughter, Everley, on January 24. In the clip, he strolled in the grass outside of his L.A. home as a beautiful rainbow stretched across the sky.
In the caption of his post, Derek reflected on how rainbows have been a constant and significant presence in his baby’s life so far. The 40-year-old wrote, “Rainbows have been part of Everley’s journey from the start.” He revealed that one appeared at her shower, and another showed up close to her due date.
The first-time dad went on to share an amazing anecdote, writing, “Two days after Everley was born I took her outside for some fresh air. When I came back, Hayley was in tears. I asked if she was okay, and she said ‘I just saw the most beautiful thing.’ She’d filmed a rainbow that looked like it was literally rising right out of Everley. Birds flew by like something out of a movie. It was pure magic.”
The ballroom star then recalled the first few days following the baby’s arrival, saying they were “full of so much raw emotion and love we’ve never felt before.”
He declared that Everley “really is our rainbow” before explaining the meaning behind his choice of background music for the clip. “I wrote this song for my wife and now also for my beautiful Everley. Like the words I sing in the song, ‘This heart is your home,'” he shared.
Hayley’s mother, Debbie Schwartz, replied to the sweet post in the comments. She wrote, “Love Everley so much and so thankful to have spent this past week getting baby snuggles. This Mimi is totally smitten.”

Hough and his “DWTS” troupe member wife Hayley, 31, announced the birth of their first child with a simple and sweet message, saying, “Every step of our lives has led us to you. Our hearts have been cracked wide open and our world is forever changed.” They gave a glimpse of the baby’s feet in her introductory photo.
Later, Derek shared a snap of the baby’s finger, and wrote her a sweet message that read, “These small hands , one tiny finger and a lifetime promise. I’ll always be here to hold you and love you.
Forever and ever, my Everley.”
