Edyta Sliwinska Shares a Message of Strength & Hope With Fans
On social media Edyta Sliwinska detailed how much stronger fighting through cancer truly made her. She attached a photo of herself in a red and pink bikini, enjoying time in a sauna. Despite her medical issues, Sliwinska is in remarkable physical shape, particularly her abdominal muscles.
“Exactly 2 years ago I woke up in the morning, said goodbye to my kids and went to the hospital to undergo a surgery to remove part of my body attacked by cancer,” the professional dancer remembered, noting that she had never been more afraid in her entire life.
“Today I feel like I’m stronger than ever. My scars have healed,” Sliwinska continued “It’s funny, but before my surgery my friend told me that one day I will look at this experience and realize that maybe it was the best thing that could’ve happened to me. But how? It’s pretty much the worst thing that could have happened to anyone. And yet, there’s some truth to it.”
The DWTS alum wrote that her children and family are the best things to happen in her life, but a cancer diagnosis also made her rethink her entire life. She went on to share the biggest lessons she took away from her cancer battle.
The Professional Dancer Encourages Fans
Over the next two slides, Edyta Sliwinska shared her biggest lessons with fans.
“1. Live every day like it’s your last one. Because it could be. It doesn’t mean you need to quit your job and blow all your money, but fill your days with things you love, little things. Kiss your child, hug your husband, call your mom, smile to someone who looks sad, laugh,” she wrote.
The following tips included expressing gratitude, minimizing stress, forgiveness, positivity, and finding meaning in life.
“If you’re going through something hard right now, hold on. You’re stronger than you know,” Edyta concluded the post. “For me it’s been two years on the other side. Here’s to choosing happier, and more meaningful life, every single day.”
In the comments, many fans thanks Sliwinska for opening up about their journey. She inspired many social media followers to speak up about their own battle against cancer.
“I always say to just control what I can in my little sphere and not to stress over things outside of my influence. Makes my days easier to deal with and enjoy. So glad you are doing better and living life,” one fan wrote.
“Dancing With the Stars” fans can catch the season 35 premiere at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15 on ABC.
