Dylan Efron Explains Why Zac Efron Hasn’t Been in the DWTS Audience

Dylan Efron may be lighting up the “Dancing With the Stars” stage on his own, but his big brother Zac Efron’s presence is never far away. While the “High School Musical” alum hasn’t appeared in the ballroom audience this season, Dylan says Zac’s been cheering him on from a distance, and his support means everything as the filmmaker and “The Traitors” alum continues his emotional journey through “DWTS” season 34.

Cheering Him on From a Distance

While Dylan has danced his way into week 7 of “Dancing With the Stars” season 34 with his professional partner Daniella Karagach, many fans of the show have questioned why Dylan’s older brother has been missing from the ballroom to cheer him on.

After the Wicked Night performance, Dylan and Daniella talked with Extra, in which they asked about the absence of Zac in the ballroom. Dylan said, “Hey, he’s doing his thing.”

While Zac seems to be doing his own thing right now, Dylan did go on to add that Zac has been “supporting me every day.”

Dedication Night Performance on ‘Dancing With the Stars’

If there was ever a night when everyone thought Zac would be in attendance, it was during week 5 of “Dancing With the Stars” 2025. That was Dedication Night, and Dylan danced to Zac and Zendaya’s song “Rewrite the Stars” from “The Greatest Showman.”

He also happened to dedicate the performance to their five-year-old sister, Olivia. To add to it, Dylan got emotional while talking about his siblings in a pre-taped video package that aired right before his performance.

In that video, Dylan said, “I’m dedicating this dance to my little sister, Olivia. I wasn’t expecting to be a big brother…but immediately, I was inseparable from her.”

He went on to say that performing their routine to “Rewrite the Stars” was a nod to his brother. He added, while tearing up, “Zac’s always taken care of me, and he did things that were so selfless. I wanna be that to Olivia, I wanna be the best role model I can.”

Despite the perfect opportunity being right there, Zac wasn’t in attendance that night, nor has he been there any of the other weeks. Fans definitely want to see him, so do you think he’ll make it before the finale next month?

Meanwhile, Olivia was enjoying her time on the show and in the ballroom. Dylan told Extra, “Olivia is still on cloud nine. She’s back in dance classes and she’s crushing it.”

“Dancing With the Stars” season 34 airs live on Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC and Disney+, and streams the next day on Hulu.
