Fans Rally Around Corey Feldman After Low Scores on DWTS Premiere

On the September 16 “Dancing With the Stars” premiere, there were many surprises and moments of awe as the new dance pairings danced live for the first time. Derek Hough thought Robert Irwin performed the “best first dance ever” with partner Witney Carson, tying Whitney Leavitt and Mark Ballas for first place.

Corey Feldman made his debut with Jenna Johnson and even incorporated some Michael Jackson moves into his dancing. The “Goonies” star, who was friends with the King of Pop during his childhood, has often used some of his moves in his onstage performances, so it was something that many were expecting. What many weren’t expecting was the low scores that Feldman was given. In a behind-the-scenes video posted by Derek Hough, many of his fans took to the comments to express their frustration.

Fans Expressed Outrage Over Judge’s Low Ratings for Corey Feldman

Hough took a video before the show began, showing the contestants getting ready for their first dance. “All right guys, Season 34, we’re here,” the new “Extra” host began his video. “We’re about to go live. Dancing with the Stars, this is where it’s all happening.”

“Unfortunately, Carie Ann is not going to be joining us tonight. Oh, Ballas is already eyeing us right now. Okay. All right,” he continued.”

“They’re all practicing the opening number,” he added. “Getting it ready. But, guys, the season is going to be… Oh, it’s going to be good.”

While some of the comments centered around the excitement of the premiere, many of the comments occurred later in the night, after Feldman and Johnson had performed.

“Can’t believe you gave Corey a 4…. he was my favorite performance of the night…and we can’t even vote for him in mountain time anymore. Devastated!!!!!,” one person commented.

“It’s obvious you have favorites! YOU ARE SO RUDE giving Corey a 4,” wrote another.

“I am trying to understand why you gave Corey a 4….i was not expecting him to do so well and was pleasantly surprised and proud . And then to see Andy get a 5. Not cool Derrick. Not cool,” commented another.

Will the Audience Save Corey Feldman & Jenna Johnson From Elimination?

Corey Feldman and Jenna Johnson decided to perform the tango to the tune of Billy Joel’s classic “It’s Still Rock & Roll to Me.” Afterwards, Feldman talked about his scoliosis battle, and he hoped that dancing would provide some relief by helping with core strength and flexibility.

While one judge, Carrie Ann Inaba, was missing due to illness, the remaining judges, Bruno Tonioli and Hough, seemed to like their dance. Tonioli called Feldman “Tango Jackson” while Hough said that their performance was “so fun to watch.” But when Hough held up his paddle with the number 4, the audience audibly booed.

Toniolo addressed the audience, telling them, “He’s doing his job!” His score for the duo was slightly better with a 5, but Johnson and Feldman looked disappointed. While the judges’ scores matter, it’s the audience’s scores that will decide who goes home, so remember to vote!
