James Van Der Beek is looking healthier and happier in new photos amid his cancer battle.
The actor, 48, was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer in 2023. In September, fans were worried after James appeared frail during the “Dawson’s Creek” reunion, where he made a surprise virtual appearance.
But on Wednesday, Van Der Beek appeared healthier, with noticeably rosy cheeks, as he posed beside NBC’s Craig Melvin. The father of six also seemed to have put on some weight.
Van Der Beek sat down with Melvin for a one-on-one interview, scheduled to air on Friday morning on the Today show.
For the interview, Van Der Beek opted for a brown and red knitted cardigan matched with a pair of green cargo pants and lace-up boots.
In behind-the-scenes photos shared by Melvin, Van Der Beek seemed in high spirits as he flashed a sweet smile during the interview shoot.
“Spent the day in TX on James Van Der Beek’s ranch (@vanderjames). Overcast and dreary outside but James is quite the ray of positivity these days,” the reporter captioned the post. “We talked about where he is on his journey, the importance of cancer screenings, and how he’s finding joy in family and faith. Our convo coming up Friday am on @todayshow.”
