“Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” star Whitney Leavitt had no intention of returning to the show until she heard about the opportunity to audition for “Dancing With The Stars.” Despite the criticisms from her castmates during season 3, Whitney continues to defend her motivations.
Whitney’s Return to ‘Mormon Wives’
“I just found out if I came back to film, I can audition for ‘Dancing with the Stars,'” Whitney said in a sit-down with friends outside of the “Mormon Wives” cast.
In a confessional, she gets candid with a producer. “After last season, I did decide to step away from the show, but I never quit MomTok. I was always in MomTok, still a part of that group. I just really needed a break, but then I heard from my team ‘Dancing with the Stars’ was going to cast someone from ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,’ and that’s a motivator. I’ll come back for that.”
Despite Whitney being interested in having a friendship with the MomTok group, she didn’t feel welcome. “I’m not going to be like ‘will you please be my friend?'” she explained to a friend.
“Of course, I miss the sisterhood,” she continued during a confessional, noting how hard she worked during the previous seasons to get it back. “But that’s the thing about relationships, is it takes two to have one.”
Whitney believes she was met with “hostility” during her return.
“This is exactly why I didn’t want to come back, but there’s this amazing opportunity, ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ and it’s something that I want. So I’m going to go after it, and there’s no shame,” she concluded during a confessional.
Whitney Instantly Becomes a ‘DWTS’ Fan-Favorite
From the moment Whitney and pro Mark Ballas first stepped out onto the ballroom floor together to perform a tango, it was clear how talented the “Mormon Wives” star was.
Fans flocked to the comment section of the YouTube video to show their love.
“I love how controlled and powerful Whitney was here. Mark always kills the ballroom dances! Can definitely see them going to the finals,” someone wrote.
Another fan gushed, “this was by far, I think, my favorite dance of the night! I love this song so much, and she’s just gorgeous! That accidental 8 makes me happy for her because she did great!”
Someone commented on the HUNTR/X, EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami & KPop Demon Hunters’ song “Golden.”
“This dance will forever be associated with Golden. I’ll never not see this amazing performance when I hear that powerful song,” they said.
Fans just couldn’t hold back the love they had for Whitney and Mark:
“No props, no gimmicks, no lifts and there is so much content packed into it! Her lines appear very sharp with fluid motions. Mark & Whitney are definitely winning.”
“Yep, I think Whitney & Robert are both gonna be this season’s obvious front runners. She was amazing at this! And Mark’s choreo is top notch, as always.”
“I actually got chills from this dance & I had no idea who Whitney even was. She glided beautifully on the dance floor, so absolutely stunning. My pick to win!”
