Rumer Willis, who won “Dancing With the Stars” season 20 alongside her partner Val Chmerkovskiy back in 2015, is proudly defending her fearless parenting and showing she’s unbothered with a confident social media post.
Rumer’s message, which she shared on April 4, centers on her decision to breastfeed the nearly 3-year-old daughter she shares with her ex, indie musician Derek Richard Thomas.
The post was a video clip of Rumer feeding the tot, before the video transitioned to a meme of a woman telling people to mind their own business in a funny whiteboard demonstration. “This is my business, and this is yours,” says the woman, drawing two circles. “The problem is, you are here, when you need to be here,” she adds, drawing an X to signify a person invading another person’s business.
“Sorry, not sorry,” Rumer captioned the post. She also overlaid the video with the text, “When someone starts judging my parenting.”
While the CDC estimates only 35.9% of American children are still breastfed at a year old, Rumer pointed out in a reply to someone in her comments, “Average weaning age in other countries is 4-7.”
Fans Support Rumer Willis’ Breastfeeding Journey
Although Rumers’ comment section attracted some naysayers after her bold post, the “Doctor Odyssey” actress also got a lot of love. One fan wrote, “I have watched your journey from the beginning. You are an incredible mother—whether people choose to see it or not. The way you love your daughter, protect her, and show up for her every single day speaks louder than any outside opinion ever could. People will always have something to say, but they are not living your life, walking in your shoes, or carrying your heart.”
Another supporter chimed in, “I breastfed my daughter until she was three. No regrets.”
Rumer Recently Celebrated Bruce Willis’ Birthday
On March 19, Rumer celebrated her dad Bruce Willis’ 71st birthday. Bruce was diagnosed with aphasia in 2022 and frontotemporal dementia the following year, his family revealed in a statement to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration.
Rumer captioned the birthday post, “Happy Birthday Daddio. I wanted to think about you today. Dancing around, being your undeniably charming self. I love you so much.” She included several clips of the “Die Hard” star in happier times.
A couple of days after Bruce’s birthday, his wife Emma Heming Willis, whom he married in 2009, shared a throwback snap to celebrate their anniversary. “I was made to love him. 17 years,” she wrote.
