Valentin Chmerkovskiy shared an alarming video from his hospital bed after he was admitted to a local clinic in Peoria, Illinois, during the Dancing With the Stars: Live! – 2026 Tour on Sunday, March 1.
The “DWTS” pro appeared disappointed as he explained that he experienced vertigo while on tour, leaving him to feel as if he were spinning in circles. In an effort to prevent falling and injuring himself, or potentially knocking himself unconscious, Chmerkovskiy took the initiative to seek treatment to manage his symptoms.
Valentin Chmerkovskiy Hospitalized During ‘DWTS’ Tour
“What up, friends? So yeah, my bad. I ended up out here in Peoria. But the doc was cool. Shout out to Claire RPT at our tour and everybody on tour for rallying,” the dancer said in a video posted to his Instagram.
“I’ve just been having vertigo for the past couple of days and had it yesterday,” he continued before saying that his equilibrium began to feel off-kilter while on the tour bus.
“I’m just spinning everywhere,” he added after saying he’s learning “a lot” about vertigo and how it affects his physical body.
“And so on the bus, when it’s moving, you know, I woke up and I just couldn’t get myself together,” Chmerkovskiy noted. “I’ll be back on Tuesday. Love you, thank you.”
The 39-year-old added that while in the hospital, he underwent blood tests and had his vitals checked.
Valentin Chmerkovskiy Apologizes to His Fans in Peoria
Chmerkovskiy also took to his Instagram Story to apologize to his fans who came out to the show in Peoria to see him dance with the rest of the “DWTS” pros who are also on tour.
“My apologies to all the fans that came out to see us today in Peoria,” he wrote. “Thank you to my fellow castmates for rallying. Little bump in the road I’ll be good to go asap. It takes quite literally me not being able to stand on my feet to keep me off that stage. Unfortunately, l just couldn’t make it tonight.”
According to the Cleveland Clinic, vertigo “causes dizziness and makes you feel like you’re spinning when you’re not. It most commonly occurs when there’s an issue with your inner ear. But you can also develop it if you have a condition affecting your brain, like a tumor or stroke.”
Thousands of Chmerkovskiy’s fans and close loved ones from his “DWTS” family poured into his Instagram comments to wish him a speedy recovery, with many supporters saddened to see him unwell.
“😢❤️🩹,” commented his wife, Jenna Johnson.
“Val 🥺,” wrote Ezra Sosa.
“We hope you feel better soon 🫶,” added the official “DWTS” Instagram.
