During the filming of “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” Streep and Hathaway attended real-life runway shows at Milan Fashion Week.

The actors were both “struck by how not only beautiful and young… but alarmingly thin the models were,” Streep claimed, saying she thought “that all had been addressed years ago.”

Hathaway reportedly took it upon herself to talk to producers.

“[Anne] made a beeline to the producers about it, securing promises that the models in the show that we were putting together for our film would not be so skeletal!”

Streep called the “The Princess Diaries” A-lister “a stand up girl.”

After the incredible success of the first movie, filming for the sequel was under intense scrutiny.

Streep revealed she was “unnerved” during production, while “Annie kept her cool.”

“Even though we were aware of the impact of the first film two decades ago, I think none of us were prepared for the ambush of both goodwill and avid attention that engulfed us,” she said.

Hathaway Shares What To Expect From “The Devil Wears Prada 2” Wardrobe

The Harper’s Bazaar profile also discussed what audiences can expect from the “Devil Wears Prada” sequel.

“The characters are obviously 20 years along in their careers and at very different places,” stated director David Frankel.

He said the sequel is focuses on “how you make peace with the world as you find it, not the world that you wish existed.”

Hathaway recently discussed her character’s wardobe in an episode of Fandango’s “Big Ticket” podcast, reported E! News. She described Andy’s style as now “[living] on the corner of practical and fabulous.”

For this film, Andy’s wardrobe will feature “expensive” pieces that were “curated for her by her,” Hathaway revealed.

“Andy has the closet of someone who worked at Runway in her twenties and then had a job where she traveled all over the world where there are consignment shops,” she shared.

She also mentioned the unattainable fashion standards set by the first film, quipping “Don’t think too hard about how she got all that Chanel on that salary.”

“The Devil Wears Prada 2” opens in cinemas May 1, 2026.
