Legendary model Cindy Crawford has been quietly battling a health condition for the last decade. The mother of two is finally opening up about her struggles, and hopes to help others with similar conditions.
Cindy Crawford’s Health Battle
Amid her new partnership with Upneeq prescription eye drops, Crawford opened up about her need for the product over the last decade.
“I remember probably 10 years ago after I turned 50 when I would be doing early morning calls, they would be like, ‘Are you fine to start at 6:00?'” she told People on Wednesday, May 27. “I can get up whatever time you want, but my face doesn’t wake up until 9:00, so just don’t plan any closeups or anything.”
According to the outlet, Upneeq is “the only FDA-approved treatment clinically proven to lift low-lying upper eyelids in adults.”
The supermodel recalled how the droopiness was visible to the naked eye.
“I could see on camera that my eyes just weren’t quite as perky as they once were,” she told People, recalling how makeup artists “would have to pick up [my lids] to get the makeup in there.”
Crawford went on to say that, after years of suffering, her dermatologist recommended Upneeq.
“About two years ago, my dermatologist told me about Upneeq as something that could help your eyes just look a little bit more wide open and awake,” she shared. “So I tried it. At first, I was only using it for shoots or when I really wanted to be on. But when I realized you can use it every day, I was like, ‘Why not?’ It’s [one of] those little things we can do to feel like the best version of ourselves. And, when women feel more confident, they present themselves in the world in a more confident way.”
Has Cindy Crawford Had Plastic Surgery?
Crawford told People that she loves the fact that Upneeq is “not a big commitment.”
“You’re not going under the knife,” she said. But has the supermodel gone under the knife?
While Crawford is all about anti-aging treatments, she told New York Times in July 2024 that she “was not interested in changing [her] face.”
In addition to Botox, which she has slowly laid off over the years, Crawford uses radio frequency, microneedling, infrared sauna, cold plunge, and a red light mask to maintain her youthful appearance.
“I’ll do those kinds of things, but in the end I truly haven’t seen anything that’s made such a huge difference that I like on anyone,” she admitted. “I’m 58, part of me would want to not be doing magazines or photo shoots. If you want to scroll through your comments, you will find really mean things. But they’re not meaner than you’ve thought about yourself.”
Both her son, Presley, and daughter, Kaia, have followed in her modeling footsteps.
“They know if they ask me, they’re going to get my real opinion,” she told People in 2024. “But if they don’t ask me… I really try hard, and I’m probably about 70 percent good at this… I try not to offer unsolicited advice.”
