Miranda Kerr Laughs Off Wardrobe Malfunction Before Accepting Meaningful Award

Miranda Kerr had a near red carpet mishap, but she handled it like a pro.

The model and entrepreneur revealed that her dress zipper broke just moments before she went onstage to accept an award at the Living Beauty Cancer Foundation’s 2026 spring luncheon in Beverly Hills. Instead of panicking, Kerr adjusted in real time, making sure to keep her back turned away as she walked and delivered her speech.

“I was like, ‘My zipper broke. That’s why I’m walking like this, not showing my back,’” she told People, adding that the zipper could not be fixed in the moment. Still, she kept it light. “We’re all human,” she said.

Kerr even addressed it onstage, turning the awkward moment into something relatable. “My zip just broke in the back, but that’s okay, it happens. You’re looking at me from the front, and worse things have happened,” she said, recalling a past moment when she lost a shoe mid-event, per People.

Despite the wardrobe scare, Kerr stayed composed and focused on why she was there in the first place.

A Meaningful Honor With a Bigger Purpose

The moment came during the Living Beauty Cancer Foundation’s annual spring luncheon, where Kerr was honored for her work in wellness and advocacy.

The event, hosted by Amie Satchu and partnered with Mytheresa, continues to grow each year. According to WWD, the nonprofit now supports around 6,000 women navigating cancer, a major increase from previous years.

“Last year, we were only supporting 2,500,” Satchu said. “Today, that number has grown to 6,000, which means nearly 10 new women a day.”

The luncheon combined fashion and philanthropy, featuring a pop-up shopping experience and a silent auction, ultimately raising more than $1 million to fund wellness programs and financial support for women with cancer.

Kerr, who received the ambassador recognition, shared why the cause is so important to her.

“This award means a lot to me because it represents something that I care about deeply, and that’s education and transparency,” she said. “It’s so important because it empowers us to make more informed choices for our health.”

She also spoke about her personal wellness routine, highlighting meditation as a key part of her daily life.

“Meditation for me has been such an incredible tool,” she said, noting she fits it in before her kids wake up, per People.

A Playful Birthday Just Days Earlier

The event came just days after Kerr celebrated her 43rd birthday in a much more playful way.

On April 20, she shared a lighthearted post on social media, wearing a black-and-white gingham two-piece set while holding a cake decorated with fresh fruit. In the clip, she added sunglasses, a “Birthday Girl” tiara and even held a lit candle between her lips before jokingly “smoking” it and blowing it out.

“Officially my birthday and I’m feeling good 😎,” she captioned the post.

She also shared photos from an earlier celebration with friends, writing, “43 is calling!! 🎂🎉🎈Had the best early birthday celebration with some of my favourite ladies 💗.”

The posts drew reactions from fans and celebrities alike, including Lily Aldridge, who commented, “Birthday Queen 🥳🥳🥳.”

Kerr, who shares son Flynn with ex-husband Orlando Bloom and three children with husband Evan Spiegel, balanced the fun moment with a more formal appearance days earlier at the Breakthrough Prize Awards.

From laughing off a wardrobe malfunction to celebrating another year, Kerr kept things grounded and positive.

“We’re all human,” she said.
