The second son of David and Victoria Beckham has made his striking Met Gala debut at the 2026 edition of the yearly fundraising event.
English model and former footballer Romeo Beckham, 23 — a rising figure in fashion who has walked runways for the likes of Balenciaga, Versace, Burberry, and more in recent years — turned heads with a bold look at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday, May 4.
Romeo wore a black grain-de-poudre wool suit from Burberry for the occasion. This year’s theme was “Costume Art” with a “fashion is art” dress code. He certainly nailed that criteria.
Romeo’s Met Gala Outfit Was ‘Very Considered and Personal’
GettyHaving become a regular fixture at fashion weeks over the past 18 months, Romeo Beckham shone in his Met Gala debut at the 2026 event.
His all-black grain-de-poudre wool Burberry suit was actually a customized version of something he already owned, which he described in detail to British Vogue.
Romeo told the fashion publication, “It feels very considered and personal.”
He then added, “I always tend to go for double-breasted suits, so Daniel [Lee] took a Burberry one from my own wardrobe as the starting point and reworked it into something custom, with leather detailing to make it feel modern and special.”
The look gave a kink-inspired nod to the provocative photographer Robert Mapplethorpe.
Romeo told British Vogue, “His imagery has had such a strong influence across both art and fashion – you can see that reflected here.” He described the result of Mapplethorpe’s influence as “a super-slick look, which I love.”
The model described his first Met Gala experience as “a special moment for me, so I’ll be taking it all in and appreciating every detail.”
He also gave an insight into his routine when getting ready for fashion events, telling the publication, “I’ll always have football (soccer) highlights on while I’m getting ready, then switch over to music to set the tone for the evening.”

The model was seen hanging with English fashion designer Daniel Lee (the creative director of Burberry who customized Romeo’s suit), and English model and actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who is the fiancée of Hollywood action icon Jason Statham.
Romeo Posted Met Gala Pictures on His Instagram Account
Romeo Beckham took to his Instagram account to share two pictures of his Met Gala experience with his four million followers.
In one of the pictures, he is posing alone. In the other one, he’s with the aforementioned Daniel Lee and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
He captioned the post “🤍 First Met 🤍” and tagged a few relevant accounts, including Burberry and the official Met Gala account.
His followers, friends, and family flocked to the comments section to shower him with compliments about his look.
Romeo’s mother, Victoria Beckham, wrote, “So elegant ❤️.”
His hairstylist, Pete Burkill, commented, “So good 👏👏👏👏.”
The model’s image consultant, Saif Mahdhi, said, “You killed it 🔥🔥🔥🔥.”
Professional photographer Stamatis Gikakis paid Romeo a huge compliment, writing, “Fairest of them all ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.”
Fashion entrepreneur Andrew Mapes noted, “Looking dapper bro , love to get u in some of my gear 🔥👏🙌.”
Additionally, one of Romeo’s followers simply wrote, “Nice to see some people have class and style. 👏”
