Cameron Mathison Gets Real About Dating After Divorce

Soap star and former Hallmark alum, Cameron Mathison, has opened up about navigating the dating world following his divorce from his wife, Vanessa Mathison, after 22 years of marriage. Mathison keeps busy working on “General Hospital” as Drew, filming Great American Family movies, and building his health and wellness brand, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t had time for a personal life.

Cameron Mathison Gives Update on Dating Life After Divorce

The actor spoke to Us Weekly about getting back out in the dating world. Mathison was a guest on Jennie Garth’s “I Choose Me” live podcast event, where he shared what it’s been like to date again with the outlet.

“I have, in almost three years of being single, I have been dating. I have been dating. And the whole app world is new to me. It was a new world, and I got to be honest. I got a little caught up in it, got a little busy. And it’s because I wasn’t used to have to meet people. You just have to go. And it was a lot easier to connect with people, which I think is a beautiful thing,” the soap star expressed.

There is a downside to dating on apps, and Mathison learned it first-hand.

“If you don’t watch your mind, and I was also trying to distract from a broken heart, and it was really nice. I met a lot of amazing people, one in particular that became like a more committed sort of situation. But at the same time, I hadn’t been ready for anything more serious. So yeah, I’ve been dating,” he shared.

Mathison confirmed that currently, he is off the apps. It all became a little too much for him. The actor’s focused on healing right now but reiterated that he was having fun while he was out there on apps.

Aside from needing an app break, Mathison has been booked and busy. Not only does he have his day job at “General Hospital,” but he also just had a career first with Great American Family that fans will see firsthand during the upcoming holiday season.

Despite facing some incredibly tough times, such as a divorce and the loss of his home in the LA fires in 2025, Mathison remains committed to building a positive, healthy life for himself and his family. When he’s not walking, the actor proudly spends time with his children, Leila and Lucas.

Cameron Mathison Champions Jennie Garth

In light of his positive vibe about working on himself, Mathison was thrilled to be asked to be part of Garth’s podcast event. The “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum named her podcast after her infamous line in the hit drama, in which her character Kelly chooses herself over choosing between Brandon (Jason Priestley) and Dylan (Luke Perry). However, it has become so much more than Kelly’s decision from decades ago.

Mathison used social media to give Garth mad props on the event and the positivity she is putting out there. Taking to Instagram, Mathison shared a carousel of photos and a couple of videos from the event.

“Choosing yourself isn’t about pulling away from others — it’s about becoming more for them. That’s the heart of what Jennie Garth is spreading through her I Choose Me movement, and being a part her live show reminded me why I’ve admired her for so long,” Mathison wrote.

The two of them have crossed paths multiple times throughout their careers. Mathison was deeply proud of the era Garth is in, calling it her “most powerful yet.” He ended his message by expressing the need for more peace, patience, and love.
