Hallmark’s first Countdown to Christmas movie, “A Royal Montana Christmas,” premieres on Saturday, October 18 at 8 p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Central. The movie stars Fiona Gubelmann and Warren Christie.
Even though the movie’s title implies that it takes place in Montana, “A Royal Montana Christmas” wasn’t actually filmed in Montana at all. Read on to learn all about where the movie was filmed and the cast involved, including where Gubelmann’s character got her stunning jewelry.
‘A Royal Montana Christmas’ Was Filmed in Canada
According to Creative BC, “A Royal Montana Christmas” was filmed in British Columbia, Canada, including in the Squamish region and Vancouver. Scenes at Peaceful Pines Ranch were filmed at a working ranch in the region. Filming took place in April, according to FTIA. Peter Benson and Gubelmann are both producers for the movie.
According to Moviedelic, one of the filming locations was on Cleveland Avenue, and shops like Black Diamond Tattoo Company, the Hive, and the Common can be seen.
Remy Marthaller, who stars as Sam, shared some behind-the-scenes photos from filming.

Gubelmann said the film was a “passion project” of hers that she “spent years bringing to life.”

In an Instagram post, Gubelmann revealed that the stunning jewelery she wears in the movie was provided by Minichiello Jewellers.
“They made Princess Victoria sparkle,” she wrote.

Hallmark’s synopsis for the movie reads, in part: “Overwhelmed by her royal duties during the Christmas season, Princess Victoria of Zelarnia is ready for a change of pace. Looking to decompress in the days leading up to Christmas, she decides to take a vacation to Peaceful Pines Ranch in Montana where she celebrated Christmas as a child with her late father. Upon arrival, she meets her dashing guide Huntley Blaylock who presents her and the other guests at the ranch with a rustic experience that is far from the royal treatment. This Christmas, Huntley must decide if he wants to step into a leadership role and carry on the family ranch’s legacy as his parents, the owners, approach retirement. Unaware of her status as a princess, Huntley puts Victoria through the rigors of a Montana ranch experience. Victoria also plans to help Huntley revive the ranch’s Christmas Holly-Day Dance. Victoria finds herself charmed by both Huntley and this different pace of life.”
The movie stars Fiona Gubelmann as Victoria. According to Gubelmann’s Hallmark bio, she’s best known for her role on FX’s “Wilfred,” and for her current role as Dr. Morgan REznick on “The Good Doctor.” Her many credits also include “Castle,” “iZombie,” “Parenthood,” “New Girl,” “Mad Men,” and more. She’s had multiple roles in Hallmark films, such as “Christmas Next Door” opposite Jesse Metcalfe.
Warren Christie stars as Huntley. According to his Hallmark bio, he initially played college football, but discovered his love for acting and performing around the same time. His many credits include “Flashpoint,” “The Catch,” “October Road,” “The Resident,” and more. But Hallmark fans know him for films like “Crashing Through the Snow,” “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “and “The More Love Grows.”

Why is the full cast not listed? I’ve tried and tried to find out who plays the husband and wife who own the ranch. AI does not answer the question when I ask. The actor who plays Huntley Blaylock is listed, but actors who play his parents are not listed. I see them frequently in other movies and would like to know who they are.

His name is Eric keenlyside. He was the top cop in Martha vineyard mysteries. His name was at the end in the credits.
Not everyone can pull off wearing a cowboy hat, but Warren Christie does an EXCELLENT job! And I would know about cowboy hats since I’m from Oklahoma. 😀

One of the very few movies I’ve turned off 1/4 way through. I love love love Fiona but the accent was so fake I couldn’t listen. And hallmark, the plot of a royal visiting US falling in love needs to be retired – done way too many times. And her sidekick was wasted- surely his role could have been enhanced or eliminated.
