Hallmark’s New ‘Nelly Knows Mysteries’ Includes Fan Favorite Star in Unannounced Role

A new “Nelly Knows Mysteries” movie is set to debut on Hallmark on March 14, and fans cannot wait. The movie stars Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith, along with a scene-stealing Pomeranian.

It turns out, another Hallmark favorite has a guest role in the movie, and viewers will love having her back on their television screens. “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” star Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe plays a character named Leah.

Hallmark fans fell in love with her when she played Rita Haywith in the “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” movies.

Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe has a role in Hallmark’s ‘Nelly Knows Mysteries.’

The teaser about Lowe’s role in the new “Nelly Knows Mysteries” film was shared by the website Mystery and Romance TV. Though Lowe’s role wasn’t explicitly promoted by Hallmark, EntertainmentNow previously noted that she could be spotted in photos for the movie released by the network.

Hallmark fans who have been following along with Lowe’s personal life via social media will be especially thrilled to see her pop up in “Nelly Knows Mysteries.” In October 2025, Lowe revealed she had been diagnosed with stage three breast cancer.

In an essay for People, she wrote that after receiving her diagnosis, she learned, “Essentially, I’m looking at the whole deal: chemo, double mastectomy, radiation and, eventually, implants.”

‘Nelly Knows Mysteries: All Manner of Murder’ Was Filmed Before Lowe’s Cancer Treatments Began

In the months since her cancer diagnosis, Lowe has kept Hallmark fans updated via her Instagram page. She has vulnerably shared both the tough parts and the bright spots, and both her fans and colleagues have had her back every step of the way.

In an Instagram update posted on March 10, Lowe shared with fans that she had completed another step in her journey toward breast reconstruction. She wrote, “I’m taking it easy today. After every procedure I just have to be calm and chill.”

Throughout her slate of treatments related to her cancer diagnosis, work has understandably taken a back seat for Lowe. Her appearance in “Nelly Knows Mysteries: All Manners of Murder” was filmed before her diagnosis.

According to Production List, the Hallmark movie was filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, beginning in April 2025. Based on what Lowe shared in her People essay, she was experiencing symptoms as early as February 2025.

Lowe noticed “a large mass in my right breast,” she wrote. She immediately schedule a mammogram, which revealed nothing that concerned her doctor. However, she wrote, “Cut to a couple of months later: The mass was still there, but it was changing in size and placement.”

She returned to the doctor, who ordered a rush biopsy. In late August, Lowe wrote, “I learned that I had stage 3 invasive ductal carcinoma.”

The Hallmark Star Has 1 Other Known Project on the Horizon

Currently, “Nelly Knows Mysteries: All Manners of Murder” doesn’t appear on Lowe’s IMDb page. The only project since her “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” movie in 2025 is an upcoming film titled “All for Christmas.”

“All for Love” is currently in post-production and also stars “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” and “Dancing with the Stars” star Whitney Leavitt. Deadline announced Leavitt’s participation in December 2025.

At the time, the media outlet noted that there were “multiple platforms currently in talks to distribute” the movie. Lowe plays a character named Jolene, although further details on the role have not yet been revealed.

“Nelly Knows Mysteries: All Manners of Murder” premieres on Hallmark on Saturday, March 14, at 8 p.m. Eastern, 7 p.m. Central.
