The worlds of Hallmark Channel and Shakespearean theater collide in “Much About Love,” an upcoming Hallmark movie inspired by one of the Bard of Avon’s classic comedies.
Set to make its debut later this month, the film pairs Hallmark staples Ashley Williams and Niall Matter.
A New Poster Arrives
HallmarkIn advance of the premiere, Hallmark has unveiled the first poster for the upcoming film.
Adorned with a small bird and butterfly swirling around the couple, the poster offers a delightful hint at the upcoming rom-com inspired by William Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing.”
A Touch of Shakespeare
Not only is the plot inspired by Shakespeare, so too is the setting.
“A TV director returns to her theater roots for a Shakespeare festival and runs into an old flame, rekindling a merry war of wits in this modern retelling of ‘Much Ado About Nothing,’” notes the synopsis.
In addition to Williams and Matter, the film also stars Hannah Michaels, Clay Quinaz, Jennifer Dale, Moni Ogunsuyi, Cody Ray Thompson, Paul Braunstein, Gabriel Burrafato and Madeline Elliott Kennedy.
Shamon Sharif directs, with the script written by Ramona Barckert, Neal Dodson and, yes, William Shakespeare (who actually shares credit on the screenplay).
A Social Media Sneak Peek
In early July, Williams shared a sneak peek on social media.
Insisting she was so excited about the upcoming movie, Williams couldn’t help herself from gushing about her co-star.
“Okay okay okay I can no longer sit on this delicious news. The incredible Niall Matter is my partner in crime on my upcoming Hallmark movie! Had to tell you all in a fun way because it’s been a while since we worked together on Never Kiss a Man in a Christmas Sweater. 🤶,” she wrote in her Instagram post.
“It’s such a tricky thing to find an amazing costar for this kind of movie, and what Niall brings in spades is so rare, supportive, professional, and expert in his craft. He blows me away. I’m a lucky actress,” Williams continued.
“Thanks so much for joining, Niall, from the boat in summer! ” she added. “And thanks so much for doing this movie with me.”
Peppermint Pop Quiz
During their previous experience as co-stars on the aforementioned “Never Kiss a Man in a Christmas Sweater,” Williams and Matter participated in Hallmark’s Peppermint Pop Quiz.
The goal of the quiz is to find out how much the two know about Christmas, with the actors asking each other Yuletide-related questions.
First up was Williams, who asked Matter if he knew who played George Bailey in classic Christmas movie “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
“No idea,” Matter admitted.
Of course, the role was famously played by Jame Stewart, with Williams sharing the answer while attempting a not-so-convincing imitation of the iconic actor.
Then it was Matter’s turn, asking Williams to name the three things required in her perfect Christmas celebration.
Her answer: “My family. Pajamas. And overeating.”
When Does ‘Much About Nothing’ Premiere?
Fans can look for Hallmark’s Shakespearean romance to debut Saturday, August 29 on Hallmark Channel.
