A fan favorite Hallmark star has just landed a new gig, and it sets him up for a fun reunion. James Denton, who starred in Hallmark’s “Good Witch” series and the 2025 movie “Grand Ole Opry Christmas,” is joining Reba McEntire’s NBC series, “Happy’s Place.”
James Denton Will Play JB on ‘Happy’s Place’
According to TV Line, Denton will play the character of “JB,” who is described as a “handsome patron at Happy’s Place who immediately captures the attention of both Bobbie and Gabby.”
McEntire plays Bobbie, and fellow Hallmark star Melissa Peterman plays Gabby. While both Bobbie and Gabby notice JB, he apparently decides that he wants to get to know Bobbie better.
As TV Line notes, Denton previously appeared on “Reba,” which starred both McEntire and Peterman. Reruns of “Reba” currently air on Hallmark as well. On “Reba,” Denton first appeared in an episode in season 4 titled “Date of Mirth,” playing a marriage counselor. He also appeared in season 5.
Fans Are Eager to See Denton Reunite With Reba McEntire and Melissa Peterman
Hallmark fans are still rooting for a revival of “Good Witch,” which aired on the network from 2008 to 2014. Denton starred alongside Catherine Bell and Bailee Madison in the series that ran for seven seasons. Both Bell and Denton have suggested they would be open to reprising their roles for a “Good Witch” return.
There have been some signs that a “Good Witch” revival on Hallmark could happen at some point. Unfortunately, for now, there seems to be nothing concrete in development.
Denton doesn’t have any Hallmark projects in the works right now either, as far as fans know, but they are excited to check him out on season 3 of “Happy’s Place.” As soon as the casting announcement emerged, fans shared their enthusiasm online.
On Instagram, one fan gushed, “Yes!!!!!! So excited to see @official.james.denton as a guest star this season too.”
Another fan added, “Oh my! I love #JamesDenton.”
A different fan wrote, “I loved him, and can’t wait to see him on season 3!”
Someone else remembered Denton’s character from “Reba” and left a comment that simply referenced his character’s nickname, “Dr. Delicious.”
‘Happy’s Place’ Also Brings Back Jane Lynch and Justina Machado in Season 3
TVLine also reported that two other former “Happy’s Place” guest stars will return in season 3. Former “Glee” star Jane Lynch is stepping back into the role of Val, the mother of Peterman’s character.
In addition, viewers first saw Machado play Maritza, the mother of Isabella (Belissa Escobedo), in season 1, and she will also be back in season 3.
At the end of season 2, viewers saw Bobbie and Emmett (Rex Linn) in a tough spot. Just as Bobbie decided she wanted to give a romantic relationship with him another shot, Emmett swore off dating entirely.
In season 3 of “Happy’s Place,” viewers will see if Bobbie and Emmett really remain friends rather than romantic partners. Isabella has some success with her speakeasy, but that success causes some new challenges for her. Having both Isabella’s mother and Gabby’s should make for some entertaining developments, and fans are clearly eager to see “Reba’s” former “Dr. Delicious” pop up to make Bobbie’s dynamic with Emmett all the more uncertain.
“Happy’s Place” season 3 premieres on NBC on Friday, October 23, and fans cannot wait.
