Actress Lacey Chabert is not just the queen of Christmas on Hallmark Channel. She also reigns over the holidays at her family’s Los Angeles home, insisting on decking the halls as soon as Halloween is over. Chabert even married her husband, David Nehdar, during the holidays on December 22, 2013, per People.
But Nehdar has his limits when it comes to Chabert’s love of Christmas, she laughingly admitted on “The Viall Files” podcast on September 30, 2025.
When hosts Nick and Natalie Viall quizzed Chabert about her love of Christmas, asking if she has multiple decorated trees, she answered, “I do. I have to hide them from my husband because he’s like, ‘Enough with the Christmas decorations!'”
But that hasn’t kept the Christmas queen from buying more. On the podcast, she laughed, “I may have ordered another one last week. I’m hoping to intercept the box before he sees it. I just love it. The more the better.”
Lacey Chabert is Excited to Launch Her Own Line of Hallmark Christmas Decor
Chabert laughed with the Vialls and their podcast crew about justifying her obsession with Christmas decorations, noting that she has to live up to the “expectation” of being the Hallmark Christmas queen, even at home.
But she did concede that her husband gets the worst end of the deal, noting, “The poor thing, he has to help me pick it all up” when the season’s over.
And it sounds like there’s a lot to clean up. Each Christmas tree at their home has its own theme, Chabert said, and she lets their nine-year-old daughter Julia “do her room however she wants.” Chabert is also known for having an Elf on the Shelf whose holiday adventures are very elaborate.
This year, Julia will have the chance to use her mom’s own creations in her decorating. In January, Hallmark announced a major deal reached with Chabert. In addition to making more movies and shows, Chabert has teamed up with Hallmark to release a line of holiday decor in 2025.
The designs have not been released yet, but Chabert teased to the Vialls, “It’s a beautiful ornament set and things you can use for your holiday celebration — a tray, a tea towel, and mugs. And a card line and wrapping paper.”
“I would absolutely buy your Christmas decorations,” Nick interjected, and then made Chabert laugh heartily when he said, “I feel like it’s, like, Jesus, Santa, and Lacey — like, those are the people who know Christmas.” Still laughing, Chabert quipped, “And that is the correct order!”
Lacey Chabert Has an Incredibly Busy Holiday Season Ahead
HallmarkChabert has a jam-packed final quarter of 2025, so it’s hard to imagine her having time to deck the halls. The “Party of Five” alum has been on a whirlwind media tour in New York to promote the second season of her unscripted Hallmark series, “Celebrations With Lacey Chabert,” and her next movie — “Haul Out the Halloween,” premiering on October 11.
Then it’s off to Nashville to kick off Hallmark’s 16th annual Countdown to Christmas. On October 15, she’ll be at Amy’s Hallmark in nearby Franklin for a meet-and-greet with fans and fellow Hallmark stars — including Benjamin Ayres, B.J. Britt, and Ashley Williams, per press materials.
The next day, October 16, Chabert will take part in a free celebration at Opry Plaza, where many Hallmark stars will be on hand for “festive photo ops, hot cocoa, cookies, Santa hats,” and more with talent such as Jonathan Bennett and Nikki DeLoach. Then on October 17, there’s another free event in Downtown Nashville — a red carpet preview of the 2025 movie lineup, as well as line dancing and special musical guests.
Chabert will also be on hand to meet fans at the Hallmark Christmas Experience in Kansas City on the event’s second weekend, December 5 – 7. That’s the same weekend her newest Hallmark Christmas movie, “She’s Making a List” co-starring Andrew Walker, will premiere on Hallmark Channel.
Then, if past years are any indication, Chabert will head home for her own Christmas countdown. In 2023, the Georgia native told Better Homes & Gardens that every Christmas Eve, she hosts a big family dinner with lots of Southern specialties her grandma her great grandma used to make, including sweet potato casserole, cornbread dressing, and mac and cheese.
