Live Recap of ‘Missing the Boat’ Premiere

Catch up on our live updates from “Missing the Boat” when it premiered on the Hallmark Channel on Saturday, January 31, 2026:

The movie begins in Port of Rome, Italy. Kelly is getting on the cruise ship, taking notes.

Parker is on the boat with his sister, Emily. He is stressed about work, his boss Adam, and getting sea sick. His sister works in PR, but she’s in between jobs. Adam approaches them, talking about their upcoming deal.

Kelly gets to her room. She’s on the phone with George. She’s discussing a big deal. She’s there to find out reasons not to invest in the cruise line. Her final report is due soon.

Kelly meets Parker, who is checking the life boats. Parker is a M&A lawyer.

Later that night, Kelly is taking photos of the boat and continuing her notes. She meets Emily. They are at the singles table. Parker joins them at the table.

The next day, the boat stops in Palermo. Kelly spends the day sightseeing with Parker and Emily. While at lunch together, Emily tells Parker she wants him to be more present instead of worrying about work. Emily goes back to the boat to tan. Kelly is shocked to hear Parker has never seen the movie The Godfather, and Parker is equally shocked to hear Kelly hasn’t seen Star Wars. They plan to see a waterfall together.

Kelly and Parker take a car ride to their horseback riding excursion that turns out to be a donkey riding excursion. They set off together. Kelly and Parker reach the waterfall they wanted to see. While they’re busy taking photos, they notice the donkeys have taken off without them. They try to catch them, but to no avail.

Meanwhile, the cruise will be leaving in an hour. Emily reaches the boat and runs into Adam, who just returned from The Godfather tour. Adam asks Emily to join him at the shuffle board on the cruise.

Back to Kelly and Parker, their car isn’t starting. But when they eventually get it started, they take off with a trip ahead of them that’s over an hour.

Kelly and Parker just miss the boat. They admit their careers depend on them being on the boat. They try to figure out how to get to the next stop. They find one rental car available, but Parker’s driver’s license is on the boat. In the time it takes Kelly to find her license, someone booked their car.

Kelly and Parker run to the train station.

On the boat, Adam goes up to Emily and asks if she’s heard anything about Kelly and Parker. They have four days to catch up to the boat.

Kelly and Parker reach the station and run inside. They successfully get on the night train without buying tickets. They find available seats. Parker asks Kelly what she’s writing in her notebook, but she’s avoiding the subject still. Suddenly, the train stops. The train workers are going on strike. The train will stop in the next town.

Kelly and Parker try to figure out what to do next. Kelly speaks to the workers at the train station, with the help of another passenger translating for her. She tells everyone that Parker is a powerful businessman who is the key to help the workers save their jobs. She admits that the company she works for makes sure his company is up to the highest standards, so she can vouch for him. She isn’t asking them not to strike, she’s just asking them to wait so they can get back on the boat and finish their business deal. The workers agree. Kelly and Parker head back to the train.

On the boat, Adam and Emily have a drink together. Emily tells Adam that Kelly and Parker got on a night train. Adam is relieved because he needs Parker’s help. Emily offers to help him schmooze with the investors.

Back on the train, Parker asks Kelly about the fact that she’s working for the company that’s trying to kill the deal he’s trying to make. She disagrees that this is what they’re doing. Parker is impressed by what Kelly did at the station.

Kelly and Parker make it to Syracuse. Parker’s back is hurt. They get stuck in a storm, but they find a taxi. Parker finds out the boat is finding another port because of the storm.

They get a room at a hotel with the help of Parker name-dropping Adam to the receptionist.

George is getting impatient with Kelly, so is Adam with Parker. Adam tells Parker the boat rerouted them so they missed the storm completely. Parker tells Adam that he found out Kelly is the secret shopper doing quality control. Adam wants Parker to stall Kelly as long as he can.

The receptionist knocks on Parker’s door. She gives him a bag that Kelly asked her to drop off. She got him a backpack and a new outfit.

The next day, Kelly and Parker get ready to plan. Parker pretends his back is still not doing well in order to stall her. He wants to see a doctor. Kelly gets Parker an alternative healer.

Kelly and Parker go to see the alternative healer. She tells him that his pain tells her that he was in a relationship that hurt him badly, and the only way to truly heal it is to stop running away. This hits a nerve with Parker.

At dinner, Kelly tells Parker that she booked them a flight early the next day. Parker tells Kelly that he’s had a great time getting to know her. Kelly suspects that Parker is trying to keep her off the ship, but he plays it off. He admits to Kelly that he used to be married, but they separated. He tells her he isn’t afraid of commitment, but he’s afraid of getting hurt. Kelly tells Parker she’s never had a big heartbreak because she ends relationships before it gets too serious. They are both afraid of pain.

The next day, Kelly and Parker realize they overslept. They rush out of the hotel. They get a taxi. But Parker left his passport in his room. He tells Kelly he’ll find his own way and encourages her to go without him.

Parker is on the phone with Emily. He tells Emily that Adam asked him to keep Kelly there, but him forgetting his passport was an honest mistake. Emily wants to talk to Adam about this. Suddenly, Kelly shows up. She didn’t miss the flight. She chose not to get on it because she wants them to do this together. They kiss.

Kelly calls the woman who helped her translate at the train station, Valentina. Her cousin owns a fishing boat. The boat leaves at 8 PM from Bari. Valentina’s cousin likes to fish in the area. They want to catch a ride to the port. They find her cousin. He agrees to help them if Parker helps him clean his boat.

On the boat, Emily confronts Adam about him asking Parker to stop Kelly from getting on the boat.

Kelly and Parker are on Valentina’s cousin’s boat now. It’s Kelly’s turn to drive the boat. Kelly pays Valentina’s cousin, but he tells them to toss it over his shoulder. He says today is going to be a lucky one.

At their next stop, they find a motorcycle with a note addressed to Kelly. She’s terrified of motorcycles. But they head off. The two eventually make it to Bari, where the boat is docked, with seven minutes to spare. They stop for gelato before getting back onto the boat.

Kelly and Parker are finally back on the boat. Adam goes up to Kelly. He apologizes to Kelly for the way he asked Parker to stall her, but Kelly had no idea about this.

George calls Kelly. He tells her he brought in someone else in her absence, and he’s going to have to let her go.

Kelly texts Parker about what happened.

Kelly confronts Parker later that night. Parker tells her that everything he said was true. She wishes him good luck on his meeting the following day.

Adam tells Emily that he was wrong about what he asked Parker to do. Emily forgives him. Adam tells her he’s impressed by her brutal honesty. Parker joins them. He tells Adam that Kelly got fired because of what happened. Adam regrets this. Parker shakes his hand, forgiving him.

Kelly is looking through photos of her and Parker from their adventure.

Kelly joins Parker at dinner. Parker tells her he would have never purposefully kept her from getting back. She knows this. Kelly doesn’t regret not getting on the plane. Parker tells her if they’re going to fire her for making an honest mistake, she wasn’t meant to be there. She thinks she would be a good consultant out on her own.

The boat docks at Dubrovnik, Croatia.

Adam and Parker give their presentation. Parker discusses work/life balance. He gives Kelly the floor. She admits that she was hired to do due diligence for their team, but she tells them that she couldn’t find anything that was wrong with the company. Suddenly, Adam takes back his offer of selling. He is open to investment, but he will be retaining their control over the cruises.

After the meeting, Kelly is hired as a consultant by Adam.

Kelly and Parker kiss.
