Scott Patterson has broken his silence on his shocking exit from “Sullivan’s Crossing” after three seasons. The actor has released a brutally honest statement about why he left the show after news broke earlier today that he wouldn’t be part of Season 4.
Scott Patterson Reveals Why He Left ‘Sullivan’s Crossing’
Following news that Patterson and Sully will not be featured in “Sullivan’s Crossing” Season 4, he took to Instagram to share his side of the story.
Patterson admitted that he loved playing Sully and has nothing but “fondness” for him. However, behind-the-scenes differences led to the “Gilmore Girls” star leaving the hit series.
“The creative differences were becoming untenable and I just sadly realized that the show was not something that I could agree to continue. It’s unfortunate that it is now being implied that they moved on from me/Sully when the fact is the complete opposite, and those who sadly already have spoken out are also fully aware of this fact, and yet chose to say otherwise,” he wrote.
The actor’s comment referred to “Sullivan’s Crossing” executive producer and showrunner Roma Roth, who said Patterson’s exit was strictly storyline-driven. Patterson revealed he wasn’t planning to speak out about no longer being involved with the show. However, he felt the show’s and the books’ fans deserved the truth from him.
“I have always been respectful of those who support this industry by watching and loving these characters we are so dang lucky and blessed to portray and bring to life,” Patterson expressed before once again gushing over how much he loved playing the character.
His social media share ended with Patterson talking about the fans. “The fans deserved better than to think the embodiment of this character, me, would just disrespect not only the show, but them. In the end, we’re all fans of these characters and stories, and I’ll always support and defend the truth,” he declared.

Several fans admitted Patterson was the reason they watched the show, while many others declared they were done watching now that he’s gone.

I just started watching this show on Netflix based on the reviews I have read. I am in the middle of Season 1 and now to find out Sully/ Scott Patterson will not be on Season 4 is just a bummer. The Powers that Be need to rectify whatever their issue is so that he will return. He is an integral part of the show.
