Hallmark Star Tyler Hynes Reveals Cheeky Story Behind His ‘I’ll Be Seeing You’ Heart Sunglasses

If you’ve seen Tyler Hynes promoting his new Hallmark Channel movie, “I’ll Be Seeing You,” then you’ve also likely spotted him sporting a pair of red heart-shaped sunglasses. Perhaps not the obvious choice for eyewear (although we do love ’em!), “[t]he Hallmark hunk has made the sunglasses the unofficial symbol of his movie and he’s been rocking them for months now on social media,” according to Just Jared.

Now, Hynes has been asked about the snazzy sunglasses and responded by telling a cheeky little story about his adorable accessory.

The Heart Sunglasses Origin Story Involves a ‘Beam of Light’

While fans prepare to sit down with a bowl of popcorn to watch “I’ll Be Seeing You,” Hallmark has shared an interview with the movie’s star. In one question, he was asked, “The heart-shaped sunglasses quickly became a fan favorite. How did that detail come together on set, and how has it resonated with audiences?”

“I’m not sure there’s a more appropriate symbol than the heart eyes emoji when it comes to this audience,” he replied.

He also said, “When I saw those glasses, a beam of light cascaded across them, they drifted from the display and landed on my face. I had no say in the matter.”

Fully embracing the delightful detail, Hallmark Channel shared a post on Instagram on April 13, that featured Hynes wearing his heart-shaped sunglasses. In the video, the actor tells fans to pop on their own lovey-dovey sunnies and share them on IG along with an #IllBeSeeingYou hashtag.

And social media users did just that!

Even podcaster Stephanie Long got in on the accessory-focused action.

Tyler Shared Why ‘I’ll Be Seeing You’ Means So Much to Him

Although working on any Hallmark movie or show is surely rewarding in its own way, Hynes has opened up about why “I’ll Be Seeing You” is such a special project to him.

“This was the first project I put into development at @hallmarkchannel as a producer. There’s a reason for that :),” he wrote in the caption of an Instagram post he shared on March 21. “There’s a voice I’ve grown to deeply cherish. A voice I’ve had the privilege of acting opposite. A voice I have the honour of meeting on these tours. And I wanted that voice to take center stage.”

“I deeply admire the generation that came before me,” he continued. “Not just for their wisdom but for their spirit. And there’s nothing more beautiful then when I hear of families using these movies as multigenerational shared experiences.”

“So here it is,” he said in the text. “A title and a song I’ve shared with you for years. A movie inspired by you. Made with you mind. With exactly the people I wished to make it with. @staceyfarber @christine.ebersole.official @bjharrisonartist @oadelsonn @jessicanoelleharmon @frontstreetpictures @joeyelkins @blakesilver.”

Along with including a gallery of photos that were taken while making the movie — as well as the poster for the story, which, of course, sees him with his heart sunglasses (tucked into his shirt) — he finished his message by telling his fans and followers, “There are endless stories of how this came to be and what the experience was. But for now here’s your first look at… I’LL BE SEEING YOU 🌸”

In a post that Hynes popped up the day before the movie’s release, he wrote, “We have shared this song and sentiment for years…all building to this. I’ve quietly lived with it, waiting for this day to come. It’s here. The memories and stories you’ve all shared with me very much shaped this as an experience.”

“From its conceit to its themes, down to it’s carefully crafted colour and it’s small but memorable moments, it’s all thoughtfully sculpted to create a feeling,” he continued. “You never left my mind in making these decisions. From the bottom of my heart, I sincerely hope you enjoy your movie. It’s another stop on this long journey, where you take it from here, I can’t wait to see. 🤍🍿 🚙💨

He added, “I’LL BE SEEING YOU 🌸 Saturday April 25th 8/7pm on @hallmarkchannel 👑. Next day on @hallmarkplus 💜. Hand hugs from Mark 🙏🏻. With Love, Ty 🤍”
