Season 4 of Hallmark’s “The Way Home” began on Sunday, April 19, and fans have been buzzing about the premiere. Sadly, season 4 is slated to be the last for the series, as Hallmark did not renew it. That means that everyone involved had an opportunity to prepare a true series finale, and it sounds as if fans are going to love how it all ends.
‘The Way Home’ Brings ‘Hopefully Satisfying’ Answers by the End of the Series Finale
Executive producers Alexandra Clarke and Heather Conkie talked with TV Insider about the final journey for “The Way Home” ahead of the season 4 premiere.
During the interview, they played coy about where Jacob (Spencer Macpherson) is. “We can’t tell you where he is, only that it’s going to take some getting used to for our characters to feel his absence.”
Regarding Elliot (Evan Williams), he “really has an adventure this season.”
As fans of “The Way Home” know, Elliot is in a tough spot heading into season 4. On the one hand, he doesn’t want to know the truth about what happened all those years ago. On the other hand, “There is something within him that still ultimately will want to get answers.”
There have been hints and a lot of speculation about a marriage proposal and wedding coming before the series wraps. Conkie teased that during season 4 of “The Way Home,” “There is a proposal — we’re not going to know who’s proposing.”
Regarding the mysteries left hanging at the end of season 3 with both Casey (Vaughan Murrae) and Sam (Rob Bishop), Conkie promised, “All shall be revealed.” Clarke also noted, “I promise we won’t pretend like it didn’t happen.”
While “The Way Home” fans will get answers to outstanding mysteries, Conkie cautioned, “There will always be questions in our show, even near the end.”
Clarke added, “One of the things that our show does is even when we do provide answers, there’s always a question mark at the end of those answers…I don’t think our finale will be any different.”
She continued, “There will certainly be answers, and hopefully satisfying ones. That’s the whole point.”
The Hallmark Show’s Final Season Brings a ‘Complex & Juicy Journey’
Williams shared some fun tidbits about the final season of “The Way Home” with Parade.
He teased, “We hope people hang on for the ride, because we’ve really put everything into this season, and this complex and juicy journey will go out with a bang.”
The actor also hinted, “I never expected [Elliot would] end up where he is after four seasons. But there’s an opportunity to be generous — with both your pain and your dreams.”
“This season is dense. Burning questions will be resolved. It’ll feel like opening a gift we’ve spent years wrapping,” promised the actor.
Leigh also talked with Parade. She reiterated that there will continue to be new questions as old ones are answered. “In true ‘The Way Home’ fashion, every answer leads to another question.”
Luckily, she added, “But by the end, the creators, writers, and actors have done everything within our power to tie these stories back together.”
She also promised that “The Way Home” audience will “get real closure” by the end of season 4. “You’ll see Kat and Elliot having fun in unexpected ways…There will absolutely be love and growth!”

Looking forward to this season
Although sad to see it all end. Its been a lot of fun !
Sad to not see certain characters also.
Big fan here !
I love The Way Home, and have watched seasons 1-3 many times over again. As a elderly woman, what makes it so interesting to me is that, I also like to go back to the past and reminisce the 60s and 70s, because those were my teen years. I guess we all wish we could jump back in time to the past and maybe change or make a different decision. Love all the characters, and I will be watching season 4 over and over again also. LOL.
