Christina Haack and Heather Rae El Moussa have always had fans doing double takes.
It’s been a long-running joke amongst HGTV fans that Tarek El Moussa — Christina’s ex-husband and Heather’s current husband — has a type. According to Christina, even she has gotten herself mixed up with Heather.
Christina/Heather Mix-Up
During a Get Ready With Me video shared by Heather, Christina admitted that she thought someone edited a photo of her and Tarek after their split. Turns out, it was a photo of Tarek’s then-new girlfriend Heather.
“My like best friend who is also my publicist text me, like, I think it was like a TMZ article,” Christina recalled during the May 14 video. “And this is going to sound so crazy to you… So when I saw it, I was driving. I saw like the profile and the sunglasses and I thought someone Photoshopped me into kissing Tarek.”
She laughed, “My heart was like beating out of control.”
“I was like, ‘Oh my god, what the heck,'” she recalled. “And then I was like, ‘Wait wait wait. Okay wait. Well this is not me.'”
Christina and Heather’s First Impressions
In the same video, the ladies recalled the first time they met each other, though they remembered things differently.
“So basically I was seven or eight months pregnant with Hudson,” Christina said of her son with ex-husband Ant Anstead. “Tarek texted me that he was coming to get the kids and he did not tell me that Heather was coming over. It was like a random day. It’s super random.”
The “Flip or Flop” alum continued, “And so I’m just like [a] really pregnant person looking like [expletive]. I probably would have at least put on this amount of makeup on to look presentable when I’m meeting you for the first time. He just like shows up with you there!”
According to the “Selling Sunset” star, however, their first meeting was at a birthday party.
“I remember Tarek and I were going to L.A. to go out to dinner…We stopped by, and he probably didn’t tell you that I was even with him,” Heather said. “I thought it was Brayden’s birthday or something, and you had the kids, and then we stopped by to say, ‘Hi.’ And I was in this really cute pink dress. I remember him being like, ‘Oh, let’s go and say, hi.’ And I was nervous to go meet you.”
She added, “Any normal person is nervous to meet the guy you’re dating kids or the woman you’re dating kids. I was definitely like, intimidated. And you asked me like, a few questions to break the ice.”
Christina and Heather seemingly hit it off right away as they now consider each other best friends. In addition to co-starring on the HGTV spinoff, “The Flip Off,” the women often spend time together off camera.
“Proof we can co-parent and co-party,” they captioned a joint Instagram post in March.
“Coparenting so hard, we left the kids at home for a double date,” the text over the video read.
