The January 13 episode of “Fixer to Fabulous” is a special one for Dave and Jenny Marrs, as they tackle a 24-hour turnaround with loads of volunteers to help a St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital family. The HGTV couple share more details about what happened behind-the-scenes of the “stressful” project.
Dave & Jenny Marrs Share the Details of Their Ambitious Project
In a January 13 Instagram Live, Dave and Jenny (and their new puppy!) took a moment to give fans some more details about the episode.
They explained this is the fifth year they’ve done the 24-hour project with St. Jude Children’s Hospital, an undertaking that requires a lot of help to finish on time.
Dave explained that they filmed the episode in Tulsa over the summer, with Jenny adding that it was “very stressful because a lot of things went wrong. A lot.”
She added, “I may have cried like a crazy person, but it’s fine.”
They shared how they managed the project with their kids, who also helped with the renovation. “It was just chaos. Just the sheer logistics of managing our family and being back and forth from the house [to a nearby hotel] was a little bit stressful, but then also actually completing the project [was stressful],” Jenny noted.
Dave, Jenny, and a team renovated backyard spaces as well as the living room, kitchen, and a bathroom for the family in 24 hours with donated materials and volunteer time.
“It gets bigger every year, crazier every year. But it’s always this amazing project that we get to be a part of,” Jenny shared.
Dave called it “feel-good TV,” noting, “HGTV is kind of known for that, but this is like the next level up.”
“We were honored to be a part of it,” Dave added. “It was just wonderful.”
Jenny added, “There were tears, there was exhaustion, there was frustration … there was all of the emotions because we had so much to do in such a short period of time.”
Jenny Marrs Shared a Look at Their 24-Hour Efforts
On August 9, Jenny took to Instagram to share photos and video from the “Fixer to Fabulous” episode they were filming.
“It’s going to be a brutally hot day and there is much work to be done … but? This will 1,000% be worth the sweat and stress and chaos because we get to be a part of blessing a family who has been walking through the unthinkable,” she explained in the caption.
Jenny continued, “Precious 8 year old Teal has been a St Jude warrior for the past two years and we get to spend the next 24 hours creating a magical wonderland in her home in order to surprise her and her family. Our hope is to bring joy in a season of uncertainty and fear. What a gift it is to be a part of this project. Thank you for inviting us to do this @jaycobb71!”
The HGTV star added, “You’ll all get to watch it unfold on season 7 of ‘Fixer to Fabulous’ on @hgtv — we can’t wait to share this one!!”
