David Bromstad is back! The longtime HGTV star’s hit show, “My Lottery Dream Home,” premiered its 19th season on November 7, 2025. The show follows Bromstad’s travels from state to state as he helps people who’ve won or inherited a windfall of cash to spend it on their ideal home (or second home!).
The popular series requires Bromstad to travel frequently, so he’s adopted some habits and favorite spots over the last decade of filming the show. But we can’t quite figure out how he has room to pack his must-have items!
David Bromstad Practically Packs a Whole Bed For Each City He Visits
In recent social media posts, HGTV quizzed Bromstad about his travels, including how many cities he’d already visited in 2025. The designer revealed, “If we’re going to places I’ve stayed for work, we’re looking at 20-something. I can’t keep track, honestly. It’s a lot.”
If he had to choose a favorite city to visit, Bromstad said that “hands down,” it’s Palm Springs, California.
Then Bromstad revealed what he cannot go without on the road, telling HGTV, “I cannot travel without three things, and they come in all one moment. So, I have a three-inch memory foam mattress topper with my linen sheets and my pillow. If I don’t have those things, I’m dead.”
Traveling with a three-inch mattress topper is no easy feat, but frequent travelers suggest using a vacuum sealer to condense the foam topper. Some do the same with their pillows.
In addition to his bedtime needs, Bromstad said that he also often packs his own food, noting that “the best meal I’ve had on the road is something I make myself” because he considers food stops on road trips “disgusting.”
David Bromstad Doesn’t Have a Stylist on the Road, Revealing He Has ‘Warehouses’ Full of Clothes
Bromstad is known for his wildly vibrant and quirky style, which he handles himself, without a stylist for his show. When “Zillow Gone Wild” host Jack MacBrayer asked Bromstad in another social media video whether he is in charge of choosing his outfits, Bromstad exclaimed, “I am! Every single one.”
“I just throw together things,” he said, but noted that he rarely repeats an outfit on the show anymore.
“When I’ve repeated,” he told MacBrayer, “I’ve gotten texts and emails and social media harassment — ‘You’ve already worn that jacket!’ Since I can’t re-wear stuff, keep up. I took that drama and turned it all up. Now I have, like, warehouses full of clothes.”
Bromstad does, however, travel often with his makeup artist bestie, Lana Reiss, who’s been seen in the background in many episodes of “My Lottery Dream Home.” The series airs Friday nights on HGTV.
