Erin Napier Celebrates Huge Achievement with Her Girls — ‘We Did It!’

“Home Town” star Erin Napier and her family have a lot to celebrate! The HGTV star is a proud mom as her two daughters completed their school year.

Erin Napier Celebrates

Napier — who shares daughters Helen and Mae with husband Ben Napier — took to social media on Wednesday, May 20, to celebrate the girls’ accomplishments.

“Somehow, we did it! 2nd grade / k-4 are ✅,” she captioned a series of photos from the school year. “This is what I want you parents who think you’d like to homeschool but you’re afraid you can’t: if you can find 2 hours a day and ‘open and go’ curriculums, you can do it.”

She added, “These girls are so happy, so good at communicating with all ages and types of people. And we feel like we soaked up every moment of growing up they did, instead of feeling shocked by it each passing week. We found the hack to slowing down childhood. It’s not for everyone, but it was medicine for our whole family this year.”

The comments section was filled with fans’ comments remarking on what a great job Napier is doing.

“As a former second grade teacher, I want to thank you for teaching script! Such a lost art,” one follower wrote.

“Cursive writing in 2nd grade!!!! That is very impressive!!! Love it!” another commented.

“This is what it is all about! There can be balance in homeschool. Rigorous with slow days outside. Snuggles with big juicy conversations,” a third added. “The depth and focus that homeschooling parents can provide is absolutely a gift given to their children. Not saying it works for everyone, but when it does… those happy barefoot book reading kids are going to do amazing things.”

Erin Napier’s Decision to Homeschool

The designer previously opened up about their family’s decision to homeschool the girls, revealing that she once believed it was “weird.”

“Some people think homeschooling is weird. I did too when I was young. Around the time Helen was born, we met some homeschoolers who were so remarkable, so mature, so communicative, and interested in learning, it made us realize we wanted whatever that was,” she explained in an Instagram post in April.

According to the busy mom, her production team on “Home Town” helps to make sure she has time each day to work with the girls.

“Our team generously carves out 2 or more hours from our filming day to teach the girls 3 of those days, sometimes 4,” she added. “If there’s a day that construction needs us the whole day, our friend who is a retired teacher subs those 2 hours for us.”

She and Ben divide and conquer when it comes to subjects. Ben — who has degree in history, minor in English and was once a youth pastor — handles history, Bible study, and math. While Erin manages language arts, etiquette, art, and science.

The girls are also very involved in community activities, like gymnastics, tennis, ballet, art class, and track team.

While homeschooling is not the family’s forever plan, Erin said, “We hope to do this for as long as it serves the girls, and someday send them to high school. It has been the best season of our life as a family that I thank God for every night.”
