Long before she made a splash on HGTV‘s “Love It or List It,” Hilary Farr had a small role in “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” In a touching tribute to the late Tim Curry, who died on August 25, Farr revealed the unexpected circumstances that led to her landing the part.
Hilary Farr Was Tim Curry’s Neighbor: How She Landed ‘Rocky Horror’ Role
Farr had a small role in the 1975 cult classic “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” playing bride Betty Munroe in the film’s opening scene. The story of how she landed the part is particularly interesting, as she happened to be Curry’s neighbor.
On August 27, Farr took to Instagram to pay tribute to Curry, sharing the story of their time as neighbors in London — and how their connection ultimately led to her role in “Rocky Horror.”
“I got the role in Rocky Horror in Tim Curry’s apartment … read on…,” she wrote in the caption.
“Tim Curry lived on the second floor of this house in London — my family lived on the main floor (swipe). Tim had a piano in his apartment which was always full of theatre friends — including me. I loved to sing,” Farr continued.
The HGTV alum shared, “We all knew he was uniquely creative and brilliant. Richard O’Brien, who wrote The Rocky Horror Picture Show was at the apartment often. One evening he decided he would create a ‘moment’ for me in the movie — Betty Munroe. Just like that!”
“It was as fun as it looks. RIP Tim — thank you for sharing your talents with us all,” Farr added.
