Jenny Marrs Opens Up About ‘Bittersweet’ Family Trip After Loss

Jenny Marrs Shares Change in Travel Plans Following Family Loss

On April 6, Jenny took to her Instagram Stories to share another family’s post about their spring break vacation.

The note to “Travel with your people while the window is open,” really spoke to Jenny.

“I loved this travel recap and this wise note to ‘travel with your people while the window is open,'” Jenny noted.

She continued, “We planned a trip back to Normandy with Dave’s parents (my parents came the first time and we collectively convinced his parents that it is the most significant and life-changing place we have ever visited) but weren’t able to go because of his mom’s health.”

“So we are taking his dad this summer. It will certainly be bittersweet,” the HGTV star added. “It’ll be hard and sad and also worth it.”

In a July 2023 Instagram post, Dave shared their travel experience. “Today we toured the cemetery, beaches, and cliffs of Normandy. To say it was powerful is an understatement,” he explained in the caption. “The soldiers who stormed the beaches of Utah and Omaha. The rangers who climbed and fell from the cliffs of Pointe du Hoc. The paratroopers who jumped into a black sky not knowing where they would land.”

He added, “They all did this for something greater than themselves. You can feel the gravity of it in all of these sacred places. I feel honored to be an American! I am so proud of the sacrifices made by those before us. If you have a chance to go to Normandy, please do.”

On September 20, 2025, Dave shared a tribute to his mother, writing in part, “My mom, Donna Marrs, has lost her fight with dementia, but is now singing and dancing with angels.”

Dave & Jenny Marrs Celebrate ‘Hope’ Amid Loss

On April 5, Jenny took took to Instagram to share highlights of the family’s Easter, noting how they continued her grandmother’s traditions.

“Easter Sunday is about redemption and new life and Hope. And, I will never stop holding on to the Hope,” she wrote.

Jenny continued, “We kept all of Nana’s Easter traditions alive, including her infamous egg toss (no one was hit in the face with an egg this year so we consider that a win 😆), and, while every ‘first’ without her feels significant and heavy, there is still gratitude and joy in abundance.”

“We can celebrate this day because of the promise that Jesus gave us with His resurrection — we will be together in Paradise for Eternity,” she added. “That is certainly worth celebrating. Happy Easter to you all, friends!”
