Joanna Gaines confesses that she’s being stubborn during her current home renovation. The former HGTV star’s kitchen may be in complete chaos, but she’s determined to work around the mess.
Joanna Gaines Takes Fans Inside Her Kitchen Renovation Chaos
On April 24, Gaines took to Instagram to share a glimpse at the photo shoot that she had planned amid her home renovation.
In the video, she noted, “Today, I thought it would be really fun to do a product photo shoot at the farm with all my friends … while also starting a renovation in my kitchen.”
Gaines showed everyone hard at work in her kitchen, then moved through a doorway where there was more disruption. “No stress guys, no stress,” she said as she moved to the backyard.
“I didn’t plan this well,” she admitted.
She managed to move past all the hubbub and sat for the photos amid beautiful flowers and sweet baby goats.
On April 30, she shared a video with the caption, “Breakfast with a side of sawdust. 😳🤗.”
She gave a thumbs up, then the camera panned to show the rubble of her kitchen reno.
Gaines Reveals Why She Refuses to Move Out During the Renovation
On May 11, Gaines posted another kitchen update on Instagram.
“Living through the farm renovation is building character, but getting a front-row seat to it all coming together is my favorite part,” she wrote in the caption. “After almost 15 years, my kitchen is getting a whole new look✨.”
In the video, Gaines shared a look at the progress, noting, “I’m trying to do this renovation in pieces.”
While there’s a fair amount of disruption, she’s trying to make it work.
“I am stubborn in that I refuse to move out. The kids have two weeks left of school,” the former HGTV star explained.
Gaines showed a beautiful hutch she got for the kitchen as well as a warehouse window that was installed. She also revealed plans for painting the shiplap “a creamier white” and removing the backsplash.
“It’s kind of funny, this is like my normal,” she explained. “This is going to be a fun two weeks trying to figure out how to end the school year well, but also work through mother’s emotional challenges through renovation.”
Fans lit up the comments section with messages supporting Gaines during her current renovation.
Many expressed their hope that Gaines will bring the renovation to TV. “Jo are we gonna get a show for this?! I need it!” one fan wrote.
Another fan agreed, commenting, “Yes — bring us a mini-ish reni episode!”
One fan noted that the chaos is a great lesson for the kids. “You’re just setting your kids up to be able to adapt in any situation 😂😅,” they wrote. “No place to do homework? I’ll find a spot. No place to cook? I’ll just make a sandwich. It’s too loud in the house? I’ll just go outside.”
The fan added, “This is just good parenting and teaching some good life lessons lol. Can’t wait to see it!!”
