‘Renovation Aloha’ Stars Tristyn & Kamohai Kalama Address Hateful Online Comment

HGTV‘s Tristyn and Kamohai Kalama took a moment to address a particularly rude comment they received on one of their Instagram Reels. The “Renovation Aloha” stars explained why the remark only reinforced the very point they were trying to make.

Tristyn & Kamohai Address Hateful Comment They Received on Instagram

On August 24, Tristyn and Kamohai took to their Instagram Stories to share a hateful “random comment” they said “popped up on this reel.”

“And we never address hate but MY FAM go back and listen to this reel,” they wrote. “This comment is exactly what we are talking about.”

The HGTV stars continued, “Take action, change your life, do you, and DO NOT WORRY about the haters.”

“Imagine if we let [the Instagram user’s] opinion stop us from doing things and held us back,” they noted. “So mahalo for proving our point.”

They added, “The irony of this comment solidifying the message. Mind you, no clue who this … Fam, our tribe, we love and appreciate you.”

Since the commenter’s Instagram handle was from a local photographer, the “Renovation Aloha” stars included a note about connecting people with a respectable photographer.

“And, if you need professional photos of your Ohana, let us know, we know amazing, talented photographers that can help you and don’t speak or act like this,” Tristyn and Kamohaiwrote.

In a followup Instagram Story, they explained that the commenter “blocked us so the comment and story were removed … so here it is again as a snapshot.”

“The comment disappears but the behavior doesn’t just disappear because it was trying to be hidden,” they explained.

Tristyn & Kamohai Kalama Discussed ‘Fear of Being Judged’ in Video

The rude comment was left on a July 22 Instagram video that the couple posted on their social media account.

“The fear of being judged has stopped more dreams than failure ever has,” the caption noted.

They continued, “People will always have opinions. But the people who change their lives are the ones who take action anyway.”

“At Flip Tribe, you’ll be surrounded by people who get it,” Tristyn and Kamohai added. “People who’ll encourage you, challenge you, and celebrate every step forward. Find your people, and everything changes.”

In the clip, Kamohai says, “I think it’s normal for people to worry about what other people think. I think that’s a normal human trait that everybody does.”

He continued, “But there is a time where you get to a place in your life and you’re like, you cannot feed into that.”

Tristyn agreed, saying, “It’s just gonna hold you back.”

Kamohai shared, “Exactly, it holds you back, so you have to really concentrate on speaking your truth, being authentic, and then the people that vibe with you when you share that message, those are your people.”

“The other people? That’s alright, they weren’t meant to be with you,” he added.

They received an outpouring of support in the comments section, with messages including, “Love you guys,” “Amen!” and “Thank you for this reminder. I so needed this today!”
