HGTV Teases ‘Scariest House in America’ Season 3 Premiere

As summer draws to a close, HGTV is looking ahead to its fall programming schedule. With Halloween just around the corner, the network is teasing one of its biggest seasonal hits, “Scariest Houses in America.

The show returns to HGTV for a third season, and fans already can’t wait to see what’s coming up. Even if Retta and her team don’t find anything paranormal, they’re surely going to find homes that would give any visitor a serious fright.

Retta Returns to Host ‘Scariest House in America’ on HGTV This Fall

HGTV is about to enter spooky season. Ahead of Halloween and upcoming fall programming, it’s teasing the big return of “Scariest House in America.” Actress Retta returns as the host, ready to bring the scare factor to audiences across the country.

“Retta is back on the hunt for the creepiest homes in the country!” the network posted on Instagram today. “You know the drill: from eerie farmhouses to paranormal hotspots, only one house will earn the title of Scariest House in America (and a makeover from Alison Victoria!) #ScariestHouse Season 3 premieres Sept. 18 at 9|8c on HGTV 👻🏚️✨”

Fans sounded off in the comments, signaling their excitement for the show’s third season.

While viewers are always eager to get a glimpse of paranormal elements in reportedly haunted homes, Retta admits the truth is much scarier. In an interview with the “Absolutely Not” podcast, the actress admitted the smell is generally the worst part.

“Every blue moon, the smelling… and I have a very active gag reflex, which doesn’t work in my favor,” Retta confessed. When asked what the worst smell was, she revealed it was always a “moldy type” of smell.

“I feel the spores expanding in my lungs,” Retta continued. “But, I’ve had it where it’s like feet. There was one at a lake house and the woman kept saying, ‘I’m sorry it smells so bad, I’m sorry it smells so bad’ and I didn’t smell it. And I was like ‘Karen, what are you talking about? You guys have aired it out…’ and then we walked downstairs into the basement part of the house and I go, ‘Karen, I know what you’re talking about.’”

Retta Hosts ‘Ugliest House in America’ in the Meantime

“Thanks yall! Appreciate the cameraman appreciation post. We love working on the show 😊” one of the camera operators, Bobby Gray, replied.

“Great show! We really enjoy seeing all the different house styles and transformations! 🙌🏻 🏡❤️” a fan added.
