What Is HGTV’s ‘World’s Bargain Dream Homes’? Everything to Know

HGTV fans who love the finer things in life can get excited as the network announced another new show for 2026: “World’s Bargain Dream Homes.”

“World’s Bargain Dream Homes” will join shows such as “Botched Homes”, “Neighborhood Watch” and “Property Brothers: Under Pressure,” on the 2026 lineup.

“With this programming order, HGTV is delivering more of our tried-and-true formats that drive consistent ratings for the network, while also featuring new talent and concepts to engage our devoted fans and attract different audiences,” Warner Bros. Discovery chief creative officer of U.S. networks Howard Lee said in a statement in October.

What Is ‘World’s Bargain Dream Homes’?

According to the network, “World’s Bargain Dream Homes” will “inspire adventurous buyers to dream big and buy low.”

“World’s Bargain Dream Homes” — which is still considered a working title — will see buyers travel the world in search of turnkey dream homes that fit their budgets.

“HGTV’s passionate fans tune in for our signature home renovation, real estate and design expertise, and they also want content that’s unfiltered, escapist and fun,” Lee added, according to Parade Home and Garden. The network’s large order of new and returning series has something for everyone.”

While the show is scheduled to premiere in 2026, an exact release date has not yet been announced.

HGTV Is Pivoting Towards Real Estate Over Home Renovation

Fans may recognize that shift in HGTV’s programming, seemingly away from home renovation series with the cancellation of “Farmhouse Fixer,” “Christina on the Coast,” and “The Flipping El Moussas.”

“Home reno shows are expensive because all of the materials are jacked up and on delay, the price of wood and marble and everything else is going up so these shows don’t make as much sense anymore,” Deadline reported in July.

One producer of home renovation series explained that “some episodes took 16 weeks to shoot,” adding, “It’s more labor intensive than doing a real estate show.”

“Stuff wouldn’t arrive on time; we had wood floors, for instance, that would come in six weeks after we started production and then we’re also depending on contractors. Everyone knows if you’re doing construction on your home, you never come in on budget. So, try to apply that to a show that has really strict budgets,” the producer told Deadline.
