Khloé Kardashian is fiercely defending herself from Lamar Odom, after she appeared in a Netflix documentary about his life “as a favor” to her ex.
The reality TV star was recently interviewed for Netflix’s “Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom” documentary, now streaming. Much of the two-part series focused on Kardashian and Odom’s marriage, specifically his substance abuse issues and overdose during that time. In it, Khloé spoke about how she stepped in to take care of Odom after his hospitalization, despite the two already being separated.
In interviews Odom has done since its release, however, he’s somewhat downplayed her role in his recovery. When asked if Khloé saved his life during an appearance on “Today,” Odom said, “In some ways. God saved my life. My lord saved my life, honestly.”
“She took care of me, but God took care of me the most,” he added. “What I came back from is like a medical miracle.”
Khloé Responds to Lamar’s Comments
On the April 15 episode of her Khloé In Wonder Land podcast, Kardashian explained why she took issue with Odom’s comments, adding that she now regrets even being involved in the project.
According to Khloé, she was asked by Odom’s team to be interviewed for the doc, claiming Netflix told her they couldn’t finish it without her involvement. Kardashian insisted they make a “positive piece,” with Khloé adding she seriously “contemplated” whether she would agree to participate.
“I feel so dumb. I spent hours and time doing this documentary as a favor. I’m not getting paid one penny to do this,” she said, reacting to some of Odom’s statements since it dropped.
“We did this, all good. I was done with this. I’m like, ‘I’m never going to do another Lamar thing again, ’cause I’m all good.’ But now Lamar is doing press, annoyed with me,” she continued. “Claiming or insinuating that I’m a liar, all these things, discrediting me, saying that I wasn’t the one that helped him.”
“For years, he was singing my praises. But you’re not now gonna…play in my face because you don’t like the reaction or response from the public?” she added.
While Khloé said she doesn’t “want the credit,” she added, “All I did was tell the story that I was asked by you to tell. But now to, like, play in my face and now to act like I didn’t do any of the things I did and insinuate I’m a liar is crazy. I feel played.”
Lamar Odom Source Responds
While Odom hasn’t directly responded to his ex-wife’s comments, a source close to him did speak with E! News.
“Lamar never called Khloé dishonest, nor did he deny her role,” the source told the outlet. “His expression of faith saying ‘God saved me’ is a reflection of his personal beliefs, not a dismissal of the medical care he received or the people who supported him.”
“Doctors saved his life; Khloé was there for him, and he has acknowledged both,” the source added. “For years, he’s been consistent in acknowledging Khloé’s support during one of the hardest periods he’s faced. He has said repeatedly that she showed up for him, took care of him, and played a meaningful role in his recovery.”
“Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom” is streaming on Netflix now.
