Janet Jackson is planning something huge this year for the 40th anniversary of her legendary album “Control” — and fans are completely buzzing.
The music icon — who celebrated her 60th birthday in May — recently embarked on a huge arena tour across Japan and released a remix of her chart-topping 2000 hit “Doesn’t Really Matter” with boy band BE:FIRST.
However, it seems Jackson has more up her sleeve before 2026 comes to a close.
In February, the “Together Again” hitmaker celebrated the 40th anniversary of her breakthrough and third studio album “Control.”
Released via A&M Records and produced alongside longtime producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, the record sold over 10 million copies globally and featured her first of 10 No. 1 songs on the US Hot 100 — “When I Think Of You.”
At the 1987 GRAMMYs, she was nominated three times, including for Album of the Year.
Other hits included the title track, “What Have You Done For Me Lately,” “Nasty,” “The Pleasure Principle,” and “Let’s Wait Awhile.”
Janet Jackson to Honor ‘Control’ Album With Concert Film
According to Broadway World, Jackson has teamed up with Airtab Music for Janet Jackson: Control 40 — The Airtab Music Movie, a filmed concert event to mark and honor the 40th anniversary of “Control.”
Filming for the concert is scheduled to take place at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida, on December 12. Tickets for the event go on sale next week, on Thursday, August 20.
The production is set to be directed by Leslie Small and plans to “feature a cinematic multi-camera concert presentation alongside exclusive behind-the-scenes access, creating the definitive filmed document of one of music’s most celebrated performers.”
The concert won’t just feature material from “Control,” however. The film will also feature many of Jackson’s other hits from her catalog, including “Rhythm Nation,” “That’s the Way Love Goes,” “Miss You Much,” and “All For You,” to name a few.
‘Cultural Turning Point’
The upcoming project plans to be a global theatrical release. Following that, it will have a worldwide distribution across major streaming platforms, allowing it to reach an even larger audience.
