There were many memorable moments from the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, September 7, and Lady Gaga’s performance was among the highlights of the night. Still, it was also not what fans were expecting (but she did not disappoint)!
Lady Gaga Steals the Show With Her Incredible Performance
Gaga had a conflict in schedule with the VMAs and her tour dates in support of her album “Mayhem.” She pre-recorded her performance for the VMAs the day before, on Saturday, September 6, before returning to New York’s Madison Square Garden to perform her show, People reports.
Her performance included the hit tracks “Abracadabra” and “The Dead Dance.” The latter is from the soundtrack of the hit series, “Wednesday” Season 2, Part Two, which aired on Wednesday, September 3.
Gaga put on an incredible show, and luckily, a clip of it was shared on social media. The theatrics, the costumes, the vocals: there was so much to love about this performance, and Gaga’s fans have gone wild for it. “The best performance of the night!” a comment reads.
“i dont think anyone could ever outdo Gaga. the best artist of this generation. Argue to the wall,” another person shared.
A third comment reads, “What an amazing time to be alive. Long live the Queen.”
Lady Gaga Won Big at the VMAs
Ahead of the event, the “How Bad Do U Want Me” singer was nominated for 12 awards, and she made an appearance at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, to accept a big win: the Moon Person for Artist of the Year award. “I dedicate this award to the audience. You very much deserve a stage to shine on, and I give you all my applause,” she said. “Thank you, little monsters, my fans, for always supporting me and always supporting the monster in me. I wish I could stay and watch all these amazing performances, but I have to go back to Madison Square Garden.”
The official VMAs Instagram account shared a video of her speech on Instagram on September 7, and fans reacted to the news. “ CAN’T STOP CRYING, WE DID IT KIDS,” a comment reads. “It really was Gaga’s year,” another person shared.
“Prepared a speech on a black sheet of paper???? ICONIC,” another fan wrote.
Other reactions include, “What a privilege to live in the same lifetime GAGA lived,” and “Congrats Lady Gaga!!! This is definitely her year. Mayhem album is one of her best work. A pop masterpiece!”
