“It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our Dad, Tommy DeCarlo, on Monday, March 9th, 2026. After being diagnosed with brain cancer last September, he fought with incredible strength and courage right up until the very end.”
Loved ones asked for privacy as they grieve the loss. “During this difficult time, we kindly ask that friends and fans respect our family’s privacy as we grieve and support one another. Rest in peace, Dad. With love, Annie, Talia & Tommy Jr.”
Family Shared Details of Medical Battle and GoFundMe Support
A GoFundMe page was also created to help with DeCarlo’s medical expenses, eventually raising more than $56,000 from supporters.
In the message posted on the fundraiser, his family described the health crisis that began late last year.
“In late September, Dad suffered a sudden brain bleed and underwent an emergency craniotomy,” the note began.
“During surgery, doctors discovered two melanoma masses on his brain and another spot on his lungs.”
Despite the frightening diagnosis, his loved ones said DeCarlo showed remarkable resilience during the early stages of treatment.
“He amazed us by recovering from the surgery and beginning treatment, but before he could complete it, he had another brain bleed and was hospitalized from November 27th to December 27th.”
DeCarlo Joined Boston Following the Loss of Brad Delp
DeCarlo’s connection to Boston began during a difficult chapter in the band’s history.
Courier Post reported that after the original lead singer, Brad Delp, died in 2007, DeCarlo stepped in to help carry forward the group’s music. His powerful voice quickly earned him recognition among longtime fans.

Cancer is such a cruel disease. I lost my husband to it on New Years Eve. So difficult to watch someone you love suffer in this way. He died 2 1/2 months after being diagnosed. I will hold you all in prayer.
