Rock legend Ozzy Osbourne built his reputation on the wild energy of rock stardom. Yet in his final hours, according to his son Jack Osbourne, the legendary singer experienced a moment of unexpected calm.
Seven months after losing his beloved Dad, the reality TV Star is shedding light on new details from Ozzy’s final hours before he breathed his last.
On the March 4 episode of Jamie Kennedy’s podcast “Hate to Break It to Ya,” Jack recalled the morning his father died on July 22 at age 76, noting that the moment unfolded with unexpected calm.
Ozzy Osbourne’s Last Morning Unfolded Like Any Other Day, Jack Says

“He was up, he was doing his thing, had some breakfast, and that was it.”
The quiet routine stood in stark contrast to Ozzy’s famously chaotic rock star image. For Jack, the simplicity of that morning has become one of the most powerful memories he carries of his father’s final day.
Ozzy’s Death Shocked Family Despite Years of Health Struggles
GettyOzzy’s death still came as a shock to the family, even though the legendary singer had been battling serious health issues for years.
As per The New York Times, the official cause of death was cardiac arrest. Parkinson’s disease, which he had lived with since 2003, was listed as a contributing condition.
Still, Jack said the timing caught them off guard. “Obviously, everyone knew he was sick, but it wasn’t… He was really gearing up for the [Black Sabbath final] show, so he was exercising a lot and moving around. He was fired up,” Jack said.
“But yeah, we weren’t expecting it to be as quick as it was. I just think he was done… I do think we have a choice, to a degree.”
His family shared the news of Ozzy’s passing in a heartbreaking social media statement on July 22.
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and Louis”
In the weeks before his death, the Black Sabbath frontman remained focused on preparing for what would become his final performance, determined to stay active despite his health struggles.
Sharon Osbourne Says Ozzy Osbourne Knew His Time Was Limited
GettySharon later offered another deeply personal reflection during an appearance on Bunnie Xo’s podcast “Dumb Blonde.”
She said Ozzy seemed to understand that his time was limited in the weeks leading up to his final performance with Black Sabbath on July 5. “He needed [to perform]. And [he was] like, ‘Whether I die in two weeks or I die in six months, I’m still dying. And I want to go my way,’” she recalled, as quoted by People. “[And] he did. He went like a rock star.”
For fans around the world, that final performance has taken on a deeper meaning. Along with the memories shared by his family, it has helped shape the closing chapter of Ozzy Osbourne’s remarkable life.
Even in his final days, the music legend known as the Prince of Darkness remained devoted to the music that defined him.

While speaking to the audience, Sharon delivered a tribute that balanced heartfelt gratitude with the humor Ozzy was known for.

“But I’m not going to… he always wanted to do better, both personally and professionally. He never felt that words were enough to thank everybody for the life he was given and the life he led. He may not be here, but he left us one amazing body of work that will never be forgotten by the country that made him.”
The Osbourne family continues to mourn the loss of the legendary rocker as they navigate life without him.
