If you’re a fan of ice skating romances, then you’ll have binged your way through “Finding Her Edge” as soon as it dropped on Netflix. It didn’t take too long for the streaming giant to renew this series, and that led to the questions about when it could be released.
Well, Netflix has recently confirmed the filming schedule for the ice skating series. While the bad news is that fans won’t see it in 2026, there is a lot of hope for a release during the first half of 2027. The publication of Jennifer Iacopelli’s second book in the “Finding Her Edge” universe could also hint at a release date.
‘Finding Her Edge’ Season 2 Filming Dates Confirmed
NetflixDeadline confirmed that the YA figure skating series is set to return to shoot at the end of this month. Not only that, but the shoot will last around four months, ending around mid-December. Of course, there is always the chance that the filming schedule could be disrupted. “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” Season 2 was slated to wrap filming in June 2026, but that filming continued until August due to problems finding a new filming location due to Spain’s historic rainfall for the year — the second season is supposed to be set during a drought!
So, while the plan is to wrap filming before 2026 comes to an end, it’s not set in stone just yet. What it does confirm is that a 2026 release date is impossible. After filming, there is a post-production stage.
Now, the post-production for “Finding Her Edge” Season 2 won’t take as long as something like “House of the Dragon” or “Stranger Things.” There are no major special effects needed, such as monsters and dragons, so that helps to keep the timeframe to a minimum. This allows for a potential release date to be sometime within the first half of 2027.
Jennifer Iacopelli’s Second Novel in the Series Has Been Pushed Back
NetflixThe release of Iacopelli’s novel “On Thin Ice” could also be a hint at the release date. The novel was originally set for publication in February 2027, but it has since been pushed back to May.
The novel is sure to come out before the show. While there have been plenty of shows that have gone past the source material, such as “Game of Thrones” and “Outlander,” there’s absolutely no need for the figure skating romance series to suffer that same fate. Of course, this depends on how close to the source material the show will stay, since the writing was done before the publication of the novel.
It’s possible that the “On Thin Ice” publishers, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, have opted to push the release closer to the Netflix release date. This would allow for a bigger campaign for both the show and the book, improving sales and marketing capabilities. It could hint that “Finding Her Edge” Season 2 will arrive around May 2027.
This isn’t within the year of the first season that many fans would have hoped for, but it is still a shorter window than most Netflix shows take.
