October is just around the corner, and that means you’re looking for some fun horror movies to check out. There are times when you want horror to scare you, but there are also times when you need a good laugh. The 2019 comedy-horror sequel “Happy Death Day 2U” offers the latter, and you’ll soon be able to watch it on Netflix.
The initial list of movies and shows coming to the streaming giant in October has been released, and the “Happy Death Day” sequel is on that list. While not as good as the first, Jessica Rothe still stands out as the fun and exciting lead, making this more than worth the watch.
When Is ‘Happy Death Day 2U’ Coming to Netflix?
The good news is that the licensed comedy horror is heading to Netflix at the start of the month. You’ll be able to watch “Happy Death Day 2U” on Netflix from Oct. 1, 2026. This is at the same time as other great horror and thriller titles, including “The Sixth Sense” and “Underworld: Blood Wars.”
For those who aren’t in the mood for horror, there are other great romances and sci-fis heading to the streamer. “Pearl Harbor” and “Ad Astra” are two on the list worth checking out.
However, “Happy Death Day 2U” is the perfect watch for someone who wants to get into the Halloween mood without too many scares. It’s extremely light on the horror for fans of slasher movies, but it still has plenty of kills, plenty of jump scares, and plenty of laughter, as you would expect after the first movie.
What Is ‘Happy Death Day 2U’ About?

It made $64.6 million worldwide against its $9 million production budget, but ticket sales did drop significantly after the first week.
Picking up just one day after the events of the first movie, with Tree explaining all about reliving Sept. 18 over and over again. What she doesn’t expect to do is relive that time loop yet again! However, there are some significant changes in this one compared to the first movie, and Tree has to go up against the serial killer John Tombs before he escapes. There are many differences from the first one, which is Ryan dating Danielle. It turns out that Tree has landed in a parallel universe where her mom is alive, and it leads to her having to decide whether it’s a world she wants to leave or not.
The original pitch for the “Happy Death Day” sequel was to move past the original story. It brought a “Back to the Future” style of storytelling, where the story kicks off straight off the back of the original movie. There’s no need to get bogged down in what people have done since the initial event, elevating the whole movie. While there was an idea for the third movie, which was tentatively titled “Happy Death Day to Us,” there has been no news about it since Bloody Disgusting shared that the third installment was officially moving forward.
