2026 Oscars to Include Surprise ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ Moment

The 2026 Academy Awards will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, on Sunday, March 15. Rather exciting, there’s a surprise “The Devil Wears Prada” moment planned for the prestigious occasion.

According to People, sources have told the publication that a bit of some description related to the film will take place at the event. Given that Anne Hathaway has been confirmed to be presenting an award, it seems extremely likely she will be participate in the moment.

Hathaway, 43, famously played Andrea “Andy” Sachs in the 2006 Oscar-nominated comedy-drama movie. In the film, Andy is an aspiring journalist who lands a job as the personal assistant of Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly at a prominent fashion magazine. There, she finds herself at the mercy of the cruel editor-in-chief.

Unfortunately, specific details about “The Devil Wears Prada” moment at the 98th Academy Awards are not currently known. However, if Anne Hathaway is involved as expected, it will be fantastic to see more of the original cast joining her.

Per IMDb, that original cast also includes the aforementioned Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci, Emily Blunt, Simon Baker, Adrian Grenier, Gisele Bündchen, Tracie Thoms, Rich Sommer, and Daniel Sunjata.

David Frankel’s movie received two nominations at the 79th Academy Awards in 2007. They were Best Actress for Streep and Best Costume Design for Patricia Field. Streep lost out to Jennifer Hudson for her role as Effie White in the musical drama “Dreamgirls.” Field lost out to Milena Canonero for her work on the historical drama “Marie Antoinette.”

What is known, despite the lack of specifics, is that the bit at the 98th Academy Awards will draw from the upcoming “The Devil Wears Prada 2.” The sequel hits theaters on May 1.

Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci, and Emily Blunt are returning for the new movie. Joining them will be the likes of Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen and Conrad Ricamora (per IMDb).

IMDb’s synopsis of the new movie reads as follows: “Follows Miranda Priestly’s struggle against Emily Charlton, her former assistant turned rival executive, as they compete for advertising revenue amidst declining print media while Miranda nears retirement.”

We can’t wait to see what “The Devil Wears Prada” moment at the 98th Academy Awards entails. Moreover, we can’t wait to see the sequel. Its predecessor boasts a 75% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. If the new movie is half as good, cinema fans are in for a real treat.
