Among 2025’s most buzzed-about shows, “Heated Rivalry” cracked open the world of professional hockey with a love story between hockey players Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie). Another couple, barista Kip (Robbie G.K.) and hockey player Scott Hunter (François Arnaud), played a pivotal role in the overall story, as well. In February 2026, the show reached 10.6 million viewers per episode, and that is just a taste of its popularity.
Following several casting announcements for Season 2, including Justice Smith (“I Saw the TV Glow”) and Charlie Gillespie (“Totally Killer”), it is the perfect time to revisit the show’s first season. In preparation for what’s to come, here is a rundown of the spiciest moments from Season 1.
Showertime
Shane and Ilya first meet when Shane approaches Ilya to introduce himself between games. There is almost an instant connection. Later, they meet again in the hotel’s tiny gym, but the real start of their physical relationship happens in the shower. The two technically do not touch, but their passion is ignited after Ilya raises his eyebrows and other lustful actions. The shower scene sets the tone not only for the show but also for their immediate bond.
The First Time
After Shane reveals his room number, 1410, he says, cheekily yet shyly, “I might open.” To which Ilya responds, “I might knock.” That night, Ilya comes to Shane’s room. Their first sexual encounter is one of consent, compassion, and connection. It’s quite evident that there’s something much deeper between them than at the surface level. It is that intimacy that fuels the show.
Extra Banana
Episode three, titled “Hunter,” reveals that veteran hockey player Scott Hunter is also closeted. When he enters a cafe called Straw+Berry, he meets a barista named Kip. Flirtatious banter characterizes this first engagement, and their running joke becomes “blueberry smoothie with extra banana.” After several conversations at the cafe, Scott turns up the heat when he invites Kip out for a late-night Mexican dinner.
But when they see the line is way too long, Scott suggests “ordering in” at his lavish apartment. Their sexual encounter is equally as heated and tender. Scott even asks Kip to stay the night. There is a clear reason why their storyline has connected so much with fans.
‘All the Things She Said’
Pop duo t.A.t.U.’s “All the Things She Said” soundtracks episode four, “Rose,” in a dazzling, dreamy final scene. When Ilya comes to Montreal, he decides to go clubbing. Shane and his high-profile girlfriend Rose Landry (Sophie Nélisse) happen to be there. Shane and Ilya spot each other across a crowded, sweaty dance floor. They are both dancing with women, but the visuals tell an altogether different story: they are both thinking of one another.
As the night wanes, Ilya heads back to his apartment alone and takes a shower. Meanwhile, Shane and Rose embrace inside her home. The camera cuts back and forth between the two scenes. It is spicy in that their emotional connection, in addition to the physical, is quite heated. Shane and Ilya look at the camera, and cut to black.
Fourth Child
While playing video games at Shane’s cabin, his best friend Hayden (Callan Potter) calls. He’s just had a baby and wants to tell Shane all about them. During the phone conversation, Ilya caresses Shane’s leg and does other naughty things. It leads to a surprising moment, and a dangerous one at that. “You like to be bad,” Ilya smirks. Episode six, “The Cottage,” sees the couple letting down all their barriers, even the physical ones.
