Along with the exciting announcement, Phillip also shared a more personal look at the journey behind baby No. 2.
In her Instagram post, she revealed that the couple conceived through IVF, describing the experience as both challenging and deeply meaningful. “Throughout this process, I’ve really learned the power of trusting in God’s timing,” she wrote. “It can be so hard when you want something so much… but you want it on your schedule.”
Phillip echoed that sentiment, calling it “God’s perfect timing” and expressing gratitude that everything worked out. She also acknowledged that the process was not easy, saying it was both physically and emotionally demanding.
At the same time, she used her platform to support others going through similar experiences. “Those of you who are still waiting, my heart is with you,” she shared, highlighting the reality many families face when trying to grow.
Despite the challenges, Phillip said the journey ultimately brought her to “a beautiful place,” reflecting both the struggles and the gratitude she feels now.
A Growing Family and New Chapter Ahead
Phillip and Richardson have been married since 2018 after first meeting at a rooftop party in Washington, D.C., in 2011. Their relationship quickly grew from there, leading to an engagement in 2016 and an intimate wedding ceremony in 2018, per Swooon.

According to People, she said she wanted to continue working and living her life while raising her daughter, noting she didn’t want motherhood to change her too much.
Now, Naomi is getting ready for her new role as a big sister. Phillip shared that her daughter is already excited about the baby and “preparing to be an excellent big sister.”
Phillip has also spoken in the past about balancing her demanding career with motherhood. During her first pregnancy, she covered the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election while navigating early pregnancy symptoms, calling it one of the most challenging periods of her life.
As she prepares for baby No. 2, Phillip is stepping into this next chapter with a sense of perspective shaped by both experience and gratitude.
“Every chapter in this motherhood journey has taught me that I can do so much more than I ever imagined,” she wrote. “This one is no exception. 💙”
