Andy Dick Reveals the First Words He Said After Revived From Near-Fatal Overdose

Andy Dick is one week out of his rehab stay after a near-fatal drug overdose on December 9, 2025. During a recent “Hate To Break It To Ya” podcast episode, he candidly shared the shocking first words out of his mouth once he was revived with Narcan on that fateful day.

“When I woke up, I said, ‘Where’s the vodka?’” the 60-year-old told host Jamie Kennedy.

Andy Dick’s Heart Stopped During His Overdose

When Kennedy asked the comedian if he died before his revival back to consciousness, Dick explained how he was told his heart stopped and he was not breathing before first responders arrived at the 7-Eleven on the intersection of Highland and Yucca in Hollywood.

“That’s what they say,” Dick shared of the overdose that nearly killed him. “They say my heart stopped. And I stopped breathing. And they had to use that stuff, Narcan.”

According to Daily Mail, Dick admitted himself into the Harlow Gardens residential treatment center in Palm Springs for approximately 50 days after his overdose. The “Zoolander” actor’s addiction crisis was made very public at the time after a bystander at the scene of his overdose shared photos of him slumped over in an unresponsive state, TMZ reported.

Thanks to Dick’s good friends Jenny and Tim Gimenez, he was able to receive treatment at Harlow Gardens without pay, as their connections with the facility granted him a full monetary scholarship for his stay, Daily Mail reports. Dick and Jenny, a former addict turned substance abuse mentor, became close during his addiction early on in his career. They both appeared on VH1’s “Sober House” in 2009, where Jenny was a house manager who oversaw the celebrity addicts on the show.

The comedian spoke with TMZ in December, telling the outlet that he felt his addiction was not out of hand; nonetheless, he admitted he wanted to “escape” from the drug habits between him and those around him.

“Do I need help? Do we all need help? Do you need help?” Dick said as he sat next to two friends in a video with TMZ. “Love it. I’m surrounded by my two friends … It will be hard for me to escape from them. But I will escape.”

After his overdose, sources close to the comedian told TMZ that although he smokes crack cocaine, he drinks far more often than he takes drugs. Sources told the outlet that they typically dilute a water bottle for him, only filling it with about one shot’s worth of vodka and the rest with water.
