Angelina Jolie is embracing change, and possibly a new country to call home. As per Us Weekly, sources claim that Jolie plans to relocate after her youngest children, twins Knox and Vivienne, turn 18 in July: a decision she’s been quietly preparing for years. A Promise Years in the Making
GettyBack in 2019, Jolie told Harper’s Bazaar she was living in Los Angeles only so her children could stay close to their father, Brad Pitt. The former couple, who split in 2016, share six kids: Maddox, 24, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and 17-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
“I would love to live abroad and will do so as soon as my children are 18,” she said at the time. Now, according to insiders, she’s ready to make good on that promise.
“It will be a new beginning for Angelina,” a source told US Weekly. “You can really feel a shift in her recently; she’s lighter and more at ease. She’ll always love L.A., but she feels it’s served its purpose. She’s ready for her next chapter.”
Another insider added that Jolie is “very excited” for this next phase of her life.
A Global Life Rooted in Family
GettyJolie has deep connections around the world. She owns a property in Cambodia, where she adopted her eldest son, Maddox, in 2002, and also has ties to France, where her twins, Knox and Vivienne, were born, as well as to Africa, where Zahara and Shiloh have roots.
“She’ll likely be partially based in Cambodia and spend time in France and Africa,” a source told US Weekly. “They’re all very special places for her. She has dear friends in all of them who she considers family.”
The actress recently told reporters at the Couture press conference, “I’ve always lived internationally. My family is international, my friends, my life.”
“Angelina thrives when she’s outside of Hollywood,” added another insider, as per US Weekly. “She loves being in cultures that inspire her.”
Currently filming “Anxious People” in London for Netflix, Jolie is focusing on storytelling and humanitarian work. Her eldest son, Maddox, is working alongside her as an assistant director on the project. “She’ll continue directing and producing films overseas,” said a source, noting that Jolie plans to list her $24.5 million Los Feliz mansion next September.
“She’s ready to dive deeper into directing and producing.” As for her kids, they’ll maintain roots in Los Angeles for their own careers but plan to spend time abroad with their mom. “The children are all creative and inspired by filmmaking and the arts,” said a source.
For Jolie, motherhood remains her foundation. “She’s very immersed in her kids and their interests,” a friend shared. “Angelina’s mom invested so much in her, and she’s doing the same for her children. All the kids are thriving — that’s her greatest achievement.”
