Actress Anne Hathaway has addressed claims online that she is faking her recently announced pregnancy. The 43-year-old actress directly referred to rumors from social media users who had questioned her baby bump in comments under her recent posts on Instagram.
Hathaway seemingly has taken the comments with a sense of humor, brushing off the comments with a joke caption to her latest social media post.
Anne Hathaway Jokingly Responds to Pregnancy Comments
Hathaway posted a video to Instagram earlier this week showing her getting ready for the movie premiere to her latest film “The End of Oak Street.” At the red carpet event, the actress showcased a distinctive maternity look as she wore a custom Atelier Prabal Gurung crop top that was described by the designer as a “sculptural high-low halter top with a cascading train.” The top was accompanied by a pair of low-rise La Ligne jeans and red Aquazzura stilettos.
Directly addressing the previous claims, she also added a caption that reads, “Fake hair, real bump 😘 ✌️🦖🔥☀️🦕😅 Enjoy The @endofoakstreet Block Party chaos with me as my outfit literally melts in the heat!!”
This was in response to a spate of comments on several social media posts, including a TikTok video showing Hathaway at the premiere. These included claims such as, “Oh come on. That is not real,” “Looks fake or is it just me,” “I’m sorry but that looks fake,” and “That does not look real.”
However, other commenters did defend Hathaway, saying: “That’s a baby bump with abs!” and “News flash people, not every baby bump looks the same.”
Anne Hathaway is Currently Expecting Her Third Child
Despite being pregnant, Hathaway has had one of her busiest years in recent times. The star is set to appear in a total of five movies this year, including “The Odyssey,” “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” “Mother Mary,” and “Verity.”
Her growing baby bump has been an increasingly obvious presence at red carpet premieres and promotional events for these films, in particular “The Odyssey” and “The End of Oak Street.”
The actress already shares two children with her husband Adam Shulman, with the couple getting married in 2012. The pair have two sons, 10-year-old Jonathan and six-year-old Jack.
Opening up about becoming pregnant at the age of 43, Hathaway explained that she and her husband considered the pregnancy a blessing.
“We just decided to see where life took us,” Hathaway said. “We’re overjoyed because we just know from personal experience that not everybody gets this, and certainly not when you want it—sometimes not ever.”
Hathaway first revealed she was expecting a baby back on June 19 in a video posted to Instagram. Walking into the center of the camera while wearing a white flower dress, Hathaway unfolded her arms to reveal her baby bump. The post was captioned, “Baby, I’m yours.”
