Taron Egerton Reveals How Love Life Is Impacted By Childhood Struggles

“Apex” actor Taron Egerton has made rare comments about his love life and how his childhood with a single mother still impacts relationships.

The Welsh actor opened up on a recent episode of Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast about how his romantic relationships and childhood led to “a specific relationship” with his masculinity.

The “Rocketman star was raised by a single mother, who made him the “man of the house” who is “trying to take care of” everyone in his life.

This perception of masculinity has had a long-lasting impact on the actor and how the 36-year-old forms romantic relationships.

Taron was raised by his mother, Christine Egerton, from the age of two when she divorced his father, David. The pair then moved from Liverpool to Wales, so the actor grew up without a father figure in his life.

The actor got candid to Dax Shepherd about where he currently stands with his father.

He said he had a ” fairly functional” relationship with his father in his childhood, but it became “more difficult” as he got older.

“I haven’t spoken to him for a number of years now,” he said on the podcast, but added. “I do love him.”

The actor commented, “I just don’t think we work very well in terms of our relationship.

Egerton revealed to Shepard how childhood bullying when he moved schools at 12 shaped how he viewed his own masculinity.

He explained how two classmates labeled him “the little feminine masculine artsy boy that I was,” which led to him masking his insecurities and adding a “cocky and confident” air to himself.

On Monday’s episode of the podcast, he explained that when he was asked about “tropey masculine” things, he worried he would be “found out,” so hid his true self.

“I sort of, slightly, fell into being a bit introvert for a couple of years there whereas I’m naturally somebody who’s quite expressive and outward-looking I think,” the “Kingsman” actor explained.

This difficult childhood has affected how Taron navigates “romantic relationships.”

He sparked romance rumors earlier this with model Brooks Nader. The pair were spotted on dates around Los Angeles and later cozying up on a beach in Australia.

In June, Nader was asked about her romance with the “Black Bird” actor; the “Baywatch” star claimed “nothing” happened.

“I’m just single, having fun. Always,” Nader told TMZ during an interview on June 24. “I’m just going on fun dates. But not with anyone right now.”

Prior to dating Nader, he was linked to “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” actress Chloe Bennet. Egerton also dated assistant director Emily Thomas for six years before separating in April 2022.

According to The Sun, Taron is single and using celeb dating app Raya.
