Cary Elwes, the star of “The Princess Bride,” has appeared in public with his daughter Dominique Elwes. Rare images taken of the pair together show that Dominique is now an adult and shares a strong resemblance with her father.
Cary Elwes Appears at Movie Premiere With Daughter Dominique Elwes
GettyDominique is rarely seen in the public eye and has largely been kept out of the limelight by her parents. She is the only daughter of Cary and his wife, photographer Lisa Marie Kurbikoff. The pair met in 1991 and eventually married in 2000.
Cary and Dominique were pictured together at the Los Angeles Event Screening of his latest film “Dead Man’s Wire.” The premiere took place at AMC The Grove 14 on January 7 and the images show Cary in a black suit and Dominique in a dark blue denim outfit and a matching black handbag.
His 18-year-old daughter is set to study directing, film theory, and film history in Santa Barbara, meaning that she will be only an hour away from her parents. That’s something that is important to Cary, who told People that he likes to be with his wife and daughter as much as possible.
“I bring them with me if I can, or if I can’t bring them on location, I make sure I fly home the minute I have a break to be with them,” Elwes said.
GettyCary has also posted on social media about his daughter in the past. To celebrate Daughter’s Day, he took to Instagram and shared several images of Dominique alongside a caption that read, “You are the greatest thing to ever happen to me and your mom. We are so blessed to be your parents as you continue to make us proud every single day.”
He also took to Instagram in 2023 to celebrate her birthday, writing, “Your mom and I are so proud of the intelligent and lovely young lady you have grown up to be. You have a beautiful heart & I love you with all of mine.”
Cary Elwes Breaks Silence On Rob Reiner’s Passing
Cary is probably best known for his role in “The Princess Bride,” where he portrayed protagonist Westley. The 1987 film was directed by Rob Reiner and the filmmaker left a lasting impression of Cary.
Paying tribute to the Hollywood legend in an emotional post, Cary explained how important Reiner was in his life and career.
“Enough time has passed that I can finally put my grief into words,” Elwes wrote on the post. “I was 24 when I first met Rob Reiner on ‘The Princess Bride.’ And from that very first meeting I fell in love with him. I was already a fan of his work so meeting him in person was a dream come true. As we began spending more time together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life. I also knew that by casting me as Westley he was giving me the keys to the castle.”
“He used to say, ‘Once the movie is released it belongs to other people. But while you are making it, that’s your time on the planet, so you wanna make it good.’ And boy was my time with him on The Princess Bride beyond great. I can’t remember a single day without laughter. The movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob held dear. Which is among the many reasons he was the perfect person to direct it.
He continued, “Thank you Rob and Michele for sharing your life and art with us. Because my heart still aches every time I think of you, I know the grief of losing you too soon will likely never go away. Sure, death cannot stop true love, but life is pain without you.”

Great comment from Cary! Well stated!
